Angelofdeath8950
Hey guys I'm playing a very important game with a really good friend of mine it's 1500 points and I need to curb stop him lol. I wanted to ask you all for list advice as I am pretty new to wolves. As of right now I have four 10 man gh's in four drop pods and I figured two plasma guns in each squad and maybe a fist just in case of a big bug or two. I'm really not sure what else to put in the list as I have never played wolves. Thanks everyone Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277636-grudge-match-vs-nids/ Share on other sites

Ghostwolfalpha
Do you have any idea what he usually fields? The two major nid lists I have seen are very different. Lots of little bastards with Monsterous Creature support, or tons of big beasts. Heavy flamer landspeeders work well vs most nid units. Thunderwolf cav are great for taking on the monsters, and I love throwing my Thunderwolf Lord at the Trygon Prime and watching your opponents face as you stop it dead in its tracks and put it in thr ground. A bit of advice, if your going MC hunting, be sure to bring your storm shield. It is invaluble vs all those smash attacks. One of my favorite armies to fight, just sucks that few people bring them around anymore. Dark3lement
Long langs with missile launchers are a beast against nids , fraqs for the little ones and kraks against there MC's, watch out you dont deploy them too close to each other if he has a doom of malantai, the biggest treaths are hive tyrants with iron arm and the tervigons, put some TDAWG with your grey hunters, and a lone wolf is never bad against MCs:p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277636-grudge-match-vs-nids/#findComment-3406965 Share on other sites

Russ Brother 92
If it's only lots of the little beggars then ML Fangs (AP5 still means no save for them) and as Dark3element said, you can take on the Tyrants or possible Carni as well - Dreadnought w/ two HFs (one in the fist and one arm mounted) in a Pod will ruin him and equally smash a tyrant's face - or if you want to go barbarian TDAWGs with two HFs and Combi-Flamers, take 1 or 2 fists/hammers and the rest just Swords - they'll ruin Nids whether they shoot then charge (a wall of flame) or being charged (where you can use the combi-flamer without losing it afaik) which is a potential (10 man pack) 30 AP4/5 S4/5 hits on whatever's charging you haha bye bye enemy... Angelofdeath8950
Thanks Russ brother it seems that you have it down to a science my friend. I do have to ask tho in you opinion do you think it's dumb that I'm taking a drop pod list? Russ Brother 92
I've been playing a relatively short time (at least compared to the long fangs in here) ;) but have spent a LOT of time facing off vs Nids (not so much in 6th admittedly) - Pods are your friend and a great one if used right...The last time I faced Nids was a 2k match not long after 6th came out - my list and my own critique is below :)HQ Lord - TDA + TH/SS + Bear Saga + WTT = 220 Wolf Priest - Runic + Hunter Saga = 125 Elites 5 TDAWG - AC/PF + 3 WC/WC + 1 WC/PF (Drop Pod) = 300 5 TDAWG - HF/PF + 4 TH/SS (Drop Pod) = 335 Dreadnought - AC + Fist/HF (Drop Pod) = 150 Troops 10 GH - 2 Flamers + Banner + PS = 170 10 GH - 2 Plasma + Banner = 170 10 GH - 2 Plasma + Banner = 170 Heavy Support 6 LF - 2 LC + 3 ML = 150 6 LF - 2 PC + 3 HB (RB + Twin-HF) = 210 ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This marks at exactly 2k - my plan was quite simple, my back line consisted of the LFs and the two Plasma Hunter packs, each GH pack protected the LFs and the objective(s) in my end... The Lord, Wolf Priest and Flamer GH Pack all came on later (courtesy of SotH) so my turn 1 looked nice and weak compared to my opponents smattering of 20 model Gaunt squads and a very scary looking Tyrant surrounded by 4 Hive Guard (ugly beggars with brilliantly high saves and toughness)... My opp. got 1st Turn and rushed forward etc. etc. Turn 2 was really a good turn - I had all 3 of my pods drop down, my opp. now had to face off the gun line (it was Dawn of War so we were pretty close anyway) in range of and the 10 WG + a really angry Dread. All in all I'd say play to our team strengths, as others on here will tell you the wolves are on of the few armies that work in-game the same as they do in-book/fluff, if you see a Tyrant then pummel it from afar and the flatten it with Thunder Hammers, however don't send those same Hammernators into combat with 20 Gaunts - yes you'll kill and few but you losing 1 is the same as them losing 5, they'll at the least hold you up for a couple of turns and at worst munch them due to a lack of 2 wound models and the sheer number of attacks (Gaunts w/ extra stuff on the charge have somewhere around 4-5 As each - x20 = 30-50 As and probs about 20-30 Hits...). Hope this helps and isn't too long winded chap. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277636-grudge-match-vs-nids/#findComment-3407729 Share on other sites
