Sohail187 Posted July 8, 2013 Share Posted July 8, 2013 Hey guys, hope you are all well. So i got a game on thursday 1750 vs tau. Now i have never ever played tau before and i have been reading through the codex this week. Those big suits xv104 rip tides is going to be something i will be up against. Now i do not want to use to much of my fire power on this unit as it has 5 :cussing wounds! and a possible 3+ save. I noticed the initiate 2 unit, would jaws take this out instantly? if he failed the roll. I also know he commonly uses 2 units or 2 XV88's from what i hear these are the ball breakers. I was thinking WGTDA with combi plasma x5 + drop pod should be able to one of those squads down. I know i cannot beat him at a long range shooting, however getting into combat can be tough. sigvals redfist Posted July 8, 2013 Share Posted July 8, 2013 Coming from personal experience a fun way to deal with tau is exploit their low initiative, jaws of the war wolf is a godsend, especially for the riptide. Fenric Posted July 9, 2013 Share Posted July 9, 2013 How does Jaws actually work now since I got a Tau player I play against alot and he brought up the fact that it doesn't say jaws can hit jetpack infantry or jump troops just infantry, monsterous creatures and jetbikes. How can I get proof that it woreks against the riptide since it's a jetpack MC? So for example if you are tau and you ave initiative 2 you will suck. So roll a dice, you need to roll equal to or under your initiative or you get removed from the table! JUST LOL! riptide, ripwho? They are no longer separate types, so anything which affects Infantry or MCs will also affect Jump- and Jet- Infantry and MCs.
