Question about Horus Heresy miniatures

Is this considered 6 troops in the actual Horus Heresy game rules stated in Betrayal, or is this just one squad? I'm hoping it's 6 troops, because paying $240 + UK to US shipping for one squad is completely out of the question. Thanks in advance whistlingW.gif

It can six five-man squads, three ten-man squads, two fifteen-man squads, a twenty man squad and two five-man squads, a twenty and a ten, two ten and two five men, a ten and four five, and any other combination you can think of. The minimum is five and maximum is twenty.

That is a good way to do it. You could have the body and main parts GW and just get the weapons kits, shoulder pads, and upgrades from FW.

So far I have 80 some-odd heresy models and I think I am around US$650.  I still have another 20 models to go.  All said I believe I priced the total at around $800-850 depending on options kits I buy.

The same model count in GW 40k is about US$500, ending at about $600.   Sizeable difference.

I also only buy FW stuff now.  My little jab at GW for the crap they have pulled the past year.

Oooo, good call.  15 man Tac squad and 2 or 3 vet squads.  Nice ground force.   Add a second Tac or an Assault squad for minimum FoC.

One thing to remember is that this is 30k, don't fall into the rut of building a 40k list with 30k units.  Large squad size should be the norm.

One thing to note with that infantry bulk thing is that you only get one character upgrade set, so you only get enough bits for 2 vox marines 2 vexillas and 2 crested helms. Not a massive issue but something to note. I'm going to make a big order soon including a fellglave and a storm eagle and I'm thinking of getting the mark IV infantry set.

So far $750 Aus for mine

So that's like...what...20 GBP? teehee.gif

Just kidding Jaspcat, you poor Aussies and your lovable accents.

I would definitely recommend taking advantage of the free shipping. Buy the book, a tac squad package, and a few units of whatever you would like to sprinkle your force with

Disregard...I can't read today.

I agree, hold off for large buys.  Even look at doing group buys with friends to get that minimum amount.  You will get them much faster.

At least get the book and the FoC minimum so you can throw down the pretty resin.

Damn you Brits with your warhammer world & events that I can't go to and and and.

Nah it's all good just means when I save up enough ima fly over and have a resin addicts version of an overdose.

My lady doesn't like me making masses purchases and believe me I've argued about FW from dusk till dawn so it will be every fortnight order another model.

my heresy era forgeworld army is averaging out at £10 (GBP) per model at the moment - 10 PA tac squad, 5 man assault, 5 man cataphractii and 5 man tartaros. Not exactly a bargain, but the models are special i admit.

two gripes with forgeworld at the moment:

1. I called to order some cataphractii shoulder pads, as i've magnetised the arms to maximise weapons options, but the pads attach to the arms, so you need a pad for all the arm swap options, but apparently they only sell complete kits?! It worked out (ish), cos I found some pads on ebay - altho £10 for 6 pads seems a lot.

2. the tartaros models (received today) the shoulder pads are in two parts?! Talk about fiddly - can't really understand why they aren't one bit like on the cataphractii...

sigh. ok whinge over.

My method to cut costs is to buy the Red Scorpions upgrade pack for MK4 helmets/shoulder pads/torsos, and to make my own Mk5 armour with rivets. Doesn't look too bad, either, surprisngly. Works out about £1 more per MK7 tactical marine, so relatively cheap (for FW prices!)
