bjoluemblem
I'm trying to figure out the best loadout for two squads of GH to drop in with a Rune Priest. I have all of the random bits necessary, so: Squad 1- 10 GH MG x2, Banner, MotW Drop Pod Squad 2- 8 GH PG, Banner, MotW Drop Pod I'd rather not drop a MG on the first squad, but if I want the RP coming in first turn, I want some tactical flexibilty here if I run against MEQ/TEQ/horde or mech. Any advice? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277916-kitting-grey-hunters-to-escort-a-rune-priest/ Share on other sites
Rune Priest Jbickb
How are you running you rp and what job do u expect for his squad? Also I like to put a wgpl in that pack with the the rp to prevent getting challenged out. I usually give the wgpl a pfist and a combi that compliments the squad Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277916-kitting-grey-hunters-to-escort-a-rune-priest/#findComment-3410179 Share on other sites
bjoluemblem
I'm looking at Psychic suppression and jaws alpha strike or dropping a squad on an objective and throw living lightning around. I'll look into running a wgpl for that purpose you mentioned. MeatGrinder
Ive been running as squad kit out as follows, to great success. RP's kit is your choice. 7GH - melta, standard, motw, pod WG - TDA, Combimelta, fist Put the WG at the front of the squad to eat any ap3, and your squad becomes very durable. Remember, solo dropping a unit in is pretty much suicide unless they are supported. I always drop my pods together on a flank where they can support each other, or make sure the rest of my army can keep up. WG Vrox
In a drop pod that is going to hit within 24" of your opponent I would suggest 7 GH with MG, 1 WG in TDA SS/P-Axe. I also suggest you put your RP in Runic Armor. There are just so many AP 2 and 3 weapons out there, and having your WG in the front taking the initial hits on his 2+ or 3+ save is vital for unit longevity. Rift Blade
I agree with Vrox. I almost always put my RP in RA for the reasons stated. If you're drop podding them, I also agree on the TDA WGPL w/SS. You might also consider giving the pack a WSTD for the inevitable charge by your opponent. If the WGPL survives to the assault , being able to reroll any ones will make him the surviving pack more than just an annoyance to your opponent.
