Grizwald23
Sorry for all the different questions ive been asking lately its just so hard to figure out which legion to and what to get since I have wanted a heresy army since I read my first hours heresy book legion around 5 years ago. They are all so cool in their own way and even though im gonna build an army using a 40k codex I want to ge able to use all the models or as many as possible for a 30k gameif I ever find anyone who plays. Overall I want my army to be as heresy era as possible while using a 40k codex. I want to use as many preheresy models as possible so I was gonna use some models as count as for 40k so two of the units I wanted to use count as models for are attack bikes since I plan on using the outrider squadrons as my bikers. The other squad is the thunderfire cannon. I thought it would be cool to use the forgeworld jetbikes as attack bikes and I was wondering what base size they come on. I was wondering if it comes with the same size as a normal attack bike base ands hat size base do attacks bikes use. I haven't used one since I built my last space marine army 5 years ago so I can't rember. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/The_Horus_Heresy/Legiones_Astartes/Space_Marine_Legion_Army_List/Legion_Fast_Attack/Legion_Jetbike_Sky_Hunter_Squadron?filter_reset=1 I also wanted to use one of the legion rapier weapons batteries as a thunderfire cannon. I was thinking of using the laser destroyer or the graviton cannon. Which one do you guys think fits the thunderfire cannon better. Also are these around the same size as the thunderfire cannon from the pictures I've seen they look roughly the same size. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/The_Horus_Heresy/Legiones_Astartes/Space_Marine_Legion_Army_List/LEGION_ELITES/Legion_Rapier_Weapons_Battery?filter_reset=1 Thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277918-using-heresy-models-to-represent-units-in-40k/ Share on other sites
No Foes Remain
I think that any of the Rapier batteries would make a good thunderfire cannon, as long as you inform your opponent first before you start a game. With the jetbikes, it looks to me that they are on a 60mm base. But I'm not really sure, so someone could confirm that for me. Looking at the unpainted pictures though, it does look like that they are on the large flying bases. Reasonable Commissar
For the thunderfire cannon Id wait as theres still 1 weapons platform that they havent made/released yet which will be the most similar to the thunderfire, Im planning to get this to use as mine when its out. The jetbikes come on large skimmer bases which the round part is close to the size of the base for a normal attack bike. If you use a small skimmer stand it likely wont make much difference. I use my FW HH models as vanilla SM and as CSM as well, the termis are similar weapon configs for CSM termis and you can use the normal troops for basic CSM dudes and for vanilla marines you can proxy weapons quite easily on them. Grizwald23
Thanks for the info my other question would it be tournament legal to use those models as count as models as long as they have proper base sizes Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/277918-using-heresy-models-to-represent-units-in-40k/#findComment-3410118 Share on other sites
Kol Saresk
Debatable. From what I hear, it depends on the people running the tournament on whether or not count-as is allowed. That would be the quad-launcher rapier platform. Its the only one yet to be released. d3m01iti0n
I cant speak for the rest of that stuff but I have a HH Legion Champion stand in for my Emperor's Champion. They look VERY similar; I just chopped his plume of, made him a wreath and tabard, and slapped an empty scabbard on his back. Looks dope. Veteran Sergeant
The problem I could see with "counts as" on the jetbikes is the LOS since they sit higher than regular bikes. This could be an issue in tournaments.
