Conaire Mor, Commander of the East, Lord of the Laighn.

My Chapter 'An Fhuail Dhragain' (the Dragons Blood), is based off of the ancient Kingdoms of Ireland.  It has 5 Great Companies divide up into smaller sub companies.  It basically operates like 5 small chapters working in unison, but all with very different mentalities and attitudes.

Conaire Mor leads the Eastern (Laighn) Company.  He has led the Eastern Company for over 5 decades now. For all that he has a particularly brusque personality, and has no great personal liking for the political machinations within his own chapter and indeed, the imperium in general, he is well aware of the importance of playing the game so to speak, and as such maintains a strong relationship with both the Adeptus Mechanicus on Mars and the Southern and Meoir Companys within the chapter.

Conchobar MacNessa, Lord Commander of the North and Lord of the Uladh.

Conchobar (pronounced Connor) MacNessa is the Lord of the Northern (Uladh) Company and is one of the oldest and fiercest living warriors in the Chapter, and is still slightly bitter that it was the younger Gwalchmai Du'bara who was elevated to the Position of Chapter master and not himself. For all that, he is a committed and powerful warrior, dedicated to the Imperium and to the eradication of all that taints it.

His company, residing on the most mineral rich continent are also the richest, their warriors clad in the latest armour and have many more vehicles than the other chapters. They have also traditionally enjoyed a position of power within the chapter as nearly half of all chapter masters have been drawn from their ranks.

Shadow Captain Korvidd, Lord Executioner of Adeptus Astartes Raven Guard, 8th Company, 16th Steward of The Court of Crows.

He could use some more work: GS sanding and filling, but I didn't want to miss the dead line and the weekend is going to be pretty busy for me. Thanks for throwing the competition, Grotsmasha! I think a Deathwatch kit-bashing contest would be pretty cool sometime :)

Vow complete, Ave Dominus Nox!

Got a little bit left to do on him, might detail the axe and add some cabling, but I wanted to make the deadline, so here he is, enjoy!

Looks like you have been busy SH the Beast Slayer is my favorite.

Yes mate, decided to use up some of my bits-box before it's inundated with parts from the new Marine kits! smile.png Creating my own version of the Masters of the Chapter seemed like a pretty good way of doing it. I'm writing some background for each master as well, but real life has been pretty hectic so haven't had chance to finish them yet.

Chaos Lord Maestoros of the IV Legion, XIX Great Company

And a little fluff.

The eldethar rank-and-file had been little more than a warm up, but the incubi bodyguard of their leader was giving Maestoros the first true test of his skills in years. It pained him to find that even astartes were like uncoordinated children against his martial prowess and he had to resort to seeking out xenos scum for a real challenge. Where his brethren had spat curses and insults in low gothic and their own tongue, the incubi was silent as the grave, his entire being focused on weaving a web of death with his klaive that would claim Maestoros with one misstep.

"You astartes are little better than the abominations my haemonculi provide me," the archite called out in low gothic, speaking for the first time. Her grasp of the language was impeccable, but what caught Maestoros by surprise was her perfect Lochosian accent. He faltered for only a split-second, but it was all the opening the incubi needed.

With blinding speed, he slashed horizontally, scoring a deep groove across Maestoros's chest and severing one of the thick power cables, sending a cascade of alarms and warnings across his vision. The curved end of the klaive caught the haft of his power glaive and with a deft twist, it was torn from his grasp. Faster than he could believe, the incubi came right back, slamming the pommel of the weapon into his face plate, sending hairline fractures across the left optic. He knew the follow-up was coming and hurled himself onto his back, narrowly avoiding a rising slash from the klaive that would have opened him from hip to collarbone. The silent warrior took a step back and gave a slight tilt of his head.

"Ureth honors you," the archite said. "You are the first once-human to have survived his favorite maneuver. In return, your death shall be quick."

Maestoros smirked behind his helmet, drinking in the sensations that flooded his senses; the pain of the cut in his chest and his body's enhanced metabolism already closing the wound; the thrill of a true challenge, and the faintest twinge of fear in his belly that he might actually die today. He stood slowly, brushing a hand over the great gash in his chest as though the wound were little more than a smudge on his armor and then gripped the hilt of his sword with trembling fingers.

"Allow me to honor him in return."

There were still some things I wanted to add to him, but my work schedule for this week is crazy and I'd rather get him entered now than risk missing the deadline.

Where'd you get them studs from?

Great posed model too.

Right, for everyone, great models being posted

@ DAWARIS1: Thunder Hammer and Lightning Claw, don't mess with that angry Wolf.... :tu:

@ furioso-prime: Love the hammer/scythe for deathspectre's model.

@ Driseamail: Two really cool entries there, I'm particularly impressed with both of their sculpted hair and cloaks, very nicely done.

@ KBA: Ahhhh dude, wow. Seriously bad-ass.....just.....wow.

@ Brother Heinrich: The devils in the details, loving the chains on the cloak and the DV Chosens weaponry, everything blends so well.

@ Spaced Hulk: 4 very nice entries, but the simplicity of your Master of the Watch that I prefer her, nicely done.

Alright guys, 12hrs to go, I'll be closing Captains @ 11pm GMT, just before I go to work......or I'll forget and you'll all get an extra 10hrs msn-wink.gif

Cheers,

Jono

I think I'm most happy with the three-part Thunder Hammer mod - Sanguinary Guard arms for the giant double-headed axe, and then the head and spiked shaft end from the Deathwing box's thunder hammer, as well as the homebrew combiplas.

Though he is only a Sergeant of my Heresy-Era Iron Warriors, he is the Senior NCO in my Dragoons, thus most likely has led more Astartes than your weak-blooded "chapter" captains ever have. Soooo....

Sergeant Myndova, 1st Platoon (Breach). Cited for 1 MBT and 3 LBT kills during the Siege of Antietam IV. Personally led his platoon in breaking the God-Gate of the Devil's Den, and killing Drake-Knight Da'tien of the Salamanders Legion.

okay better late then never! my entries are just for funzies as they do not abide by the 25% rule. couldn't decide which one I like most so I will just put them both up. these guys are blood angels, one could be count as tycho if I strip him of his power fist. I decided to take the plunge with blood angels shortly after seeing midnight runners amazing flesh eaters log, so props to him for the inspiration

they are still very wip lots of tidying up to do, but the blueprint is there

count as tycho

Unlike the previous two challenges I didn't have a plan for a Captain. Well, I did, I have a conversion of a specific Captain that i'm working on, but after looking over the guide lines for the challenge he'd be illegal.

I did a few test runs but couldn't really get anything I liked, so this guy is just blue tacked together as i'm not happy with the result and don't want to commit any of the parts. He's completed as far as the challenge goes, but I doubt i'll be doing anything more with him other than taking him apart and using the parts to make a version i'm happier with.

So, I've done a couple of these kitbash things the last few months and have only now realized that you're not supposed to paint the models. Whoops--been putting primer on. So it goes.

Anyway, I really loved the Lord Executioner model that was released a couple of months ago except I thought the figure's pose was unfortunate and boring. I feel like a melee oriented marine needs to be shown in dynamic action like a comic book panel, not just a dude standing around...so I've used this challenge as an opportunity to get in and cut this model up and rework it.

Without further ado, check out Captain Ferro of the Iron Eagles, my in-progress-homebrew-jump-pack-all-mk.8-tall-scaled chapter:
