Night Lords Warp Talon/Chaos Lord

I had started this last week but it looks like the post was lost during the issues on the boards last week. So before my update here is a recap.

The model started off like this:

With some more progress:

Now we are back on track.. I received some comments that I was missing the gold banding traditionally used for Night Lords heraldry. Therefore I have been working to resolve this while adding some more highlights etc:

I must say I think it has added a great deal to the model. It looked rather plain before but I was worried about adding too much colour and losing the Midnight Clad style. Thankfully the gold has added some punch without lifting the tone of the model too far.

Really fighting the urge to make a project of this rather than a one off...

The gold is very nice. If I had to crit anything, I kind of miss the red that is often used as a contrast on NL. I do get that you're going for a limited palette though, maybe just give him some fiery red eye slits, scary without adding too much colour?

There actually is some red used on the cabling. I am very tempted to do the eyes red though... I cannot decide whether to leave them (which I feel is more menacing) or paint them as it will look like a better paint job and less like I could not be bothered to finish him.

Who goes for red eyes then?

  • 2 weeks later...

I have been working on this Night Lord Warp Talon/Raptor for awhile now. Progress was delayed for awhile as I have been making my own cast bases and getting the moulds done, the resin poured and then everything cleaned up took a little while.

Well the base is now complete and he is up to the point where I can start weathering.

I think I shall forgo the usual heavy weathering I go for on this Night Lords Warp Talon. Instead i shall just throw some pigments around the base and lower half of the model.

I still cannot decide if I want to sell this model or not.. I have no use for it but I am more than a little fond of him. Either way I am planning on making a Night Lords themed display base for this Warp Talon.

That's a very mean looking NL

Well done fella. Personally I would've added more colour to the blue armour but that's personal preference.

Mean was what I was aiming for biggrin.png

My intention was to try and get as close to midnight clad as I could without it becoming a highlighted black colour but I know most people go for a slightly richer tone.
