Kol Saresk
Hello all. On one of my various surfs through the treacherous ways of the Interwebz, I noticed some... discrepancies you might say concerning the Horus Heresy on Lexicanum. Most notably, in these two articles: Space Marine Legions and Lion El'Jonson. On those two articles, I am specifically looking at the numbers of the Legions as they number the Sons of Horus as the second largest Legion, which I seem to recall the Word Bearers being the second largest Legion. Basically, if someone could quote a source with a page number that confirms or denies the Sons of Horus being at 130,000 to 170,000 or the Word Bearers being at 100,000 to 150,000, it would be appreciated. I think FW's Betrayal and BL's The First Heretic are the best places to look respectively. Again, thanks. In the case of Lion El'Jonson, I am looking at this specific passage: As part of Horus' campaign to divert many of the remaining loyalist legions from Terra, the Night Lords were dispatched to the Eastern Fringes, where in the Thramas Crusade they rampaged across many loyalist worlds. The Lion responded to the genocide, managing to skilfully coordinate an ambush that badly mauled the Night Lords fleet and sent the traitors reeling. At the height of the battle, the Lion met Konrad Curze in combat and severely injured the traitor Primarch. During the clash with his brother, Curze (who possessed prophetic foresight) hinted to the Lion of Luther's eventual betrayal.[12] After dealing with the Night Lords, the Lion made course for Terra but arrived too late to influence the battle or prevent the Emperor from becoming interred on the Golden Throne. They have Prince of Crows happening before Savage Weapons. That, I can fix by myself, but I don't recall the name of the warp engine that was seized in The Lion. I want to say it was like Tcahlchua or something but I just want to make sure. A page number would be of immense help. I have to ask you, the BnC community because frankly, the only HH material I have with me is a copy of Vulkan Lives. All of my books and other reference material will not be on hand for quite some time. So again, any and all help is appreciated. If you find any other discrepancies, please make them known to me and if possible, a correction along with the cited source. I do have an account with Lexicanum so I will do what I can. It's about time I used it for something, right? Again, thank you all for the help. Conn Eremon
Forgeworld has the Sons at about that before Isstvan. Give me a moment while I look it up. Edit: Page 79, under the Sons of Horus War Disposition. Records, tainted as they may be, place teh Sons of Horus at a fighting strength of approximately 130,000-170,000 Space Marines in the period leading up to the Isstvan III atrocity. Although the figure may have been higher, this estimate would also tally with more general assessments of the Sons of Horus being in the upper quarter of the Legions in terms of Space Marine manpower. However, the losses at Isstvan III were significant. Same page: . . . it would follow that Horus began his war of betrayal with around 70,000-110,000 Space Marines of his own Legion at his disposal, with considerable evidence that the latter figure is the more accurate.
