Thunderfire Cannon + Servitor Units?

May I field Servitor unit, if I field Thunderfire Cannon (with Techmarine crew).

The rules says that :

"You may include one unit of servitors for every Techmarine or Master of the Forge in your Army"

I think yes, I know that Army Builder is not exactly the precise source of data, but it does not allow servitor unit for Thunderfire Cannon Techmarine.

This has been a grey area rule for as long as the Codex has been out, and I believe we haven't had a satisfying RAW conclusion or an FAQ on the subject. Hopefully, with a new Codex out soon, we won't have to worry about it anymore.

Here's my argument for it:

Okay quick question to you TFC vets.  Can you take a TFC and a servitor squad with the TFC.  So you could take the TFC and 5 servitors, two armed with Plasma cannons?  Just something I was looking at even the Heavy bolter might be a better option, but I was just thinking about this.  Thoughts?

you can't take servitors with a TFC.  The codex tells you what you can take with that unit and servitors are not an option.  Only a separate tech marine can take servitors.  If you take one with a TFC his options are greatly restricted.
Not so. You may take one unit of Servitors for each Techmarine in your army (C:SM, pg.138). The Thunderfire Cannon unit includes a Techmarine*. So you can include one unit of Servitors for each Thunderfire you field.

*- Yes, in the unit composition he is referred to as a "Techmarine Gunner", but what is a "Techmarine Gunner"? The stat block for that model doesn't exist, unless you point to the "Techmarine" stat block in the TFC army list entry (C:SM, pg.142). And if you refer back to the Thunderfire unit entry (C:SM, pg.73), the model is referred to as a "Techmarine". Now said Techmarine can't join the Servitor unit until the TFC is destroyed (so will suffer Mind Lock) but there is a valid argument to be made that you can field them.

But as DG says, it's a grey area which you'll have to hash out with your local group/players.
