Master Chaplain Astador
Hey guys I haven't posted much lately, namely because I'm working on non-PA stuff and commissions, buts at night I sat down and did some painting just to try a few things. I converted this guy when he first came out but never bothered to paint him. http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/null_zps9d3939c2.jpg http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/null_zps52e325fa.jpg http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/null_zpse174093e.png The details and purity seals will be turquoise. Someone had suggested black for the tabard but I'm open to opinions on it! :) Pretty pleased with where he is at the moment since I only spent 3 hours on him. C&C welcome! Sun Reaver
That looks awesome man! I think a bleached bone color always looks good on tabards. Or maybe like a dark blue or purple tabard? deathspectersgt7
Sweet looks like he has'nt been back to Mancora in awhile. Bleached bone or black. Adeptus-Alaska
he looks great! I also say bone for the tabard! oh and one critique, you may want to clean up the black detail on the thumb nail, it kinda throws the rest of the thumb off! ephrael
That's a really nice job on the conversion work. I just pulled that same mini out of the blister and was thinking about converting him into something for my DW army after your message last night. I think that you might be reading my subconscious mind a little brother. I really like the Howling Griffons colors on him, you've done a great job so far. How about a nice captured Mantis Warriors banner for his tabard? Or one of the other traitor legions from the Badab war? Plenty of color choices there besides bone. How about a picture of his missing arm and weapon? I'd like to see what you did for them before I cut mine up. Master Chaplain Astador
Cheers for the comments guys! Mike I may have to look into the banner idea! As for weapons, he still has the shield but I filed and resculpted it into a damaged round shield with no details. Haven't decided if it will make it onto the finished piece or not. And he doesn't have another weapon yet. Another decision ill be making tonight or tomorrow I hope! :) The plan is to begin working on the NMM when I get home from work tonight, so I should have an update! Brother Heinrich
Man this dude is awesome, can't wait to see the finished product. Humble question for you, what colors would you recommend using to get the chipped paint effect you've got going on dark blue armor (aka my Night Lords). I love the look of weather beaten Marines, combat isn't clean. Master Chaplain Astador
For dark colours I still use chardon granite from GW I just mix in a little bit of light brown like vermin or similar to make them stand out. I also use pure white and black to edge the chips. Kierdale
Very nice work indeed! A Chapter I've always loved, too. Those chips are excellently done. Something that has always been scary to try, but you've really pulled it off!
