Fedorarogue
I am looking to create a Space wolf army again from the random collection of models I have and am having trouble deciding how best to use Wolfguard Battle leaders. I am just unsure exactly where they would be of the most use to me in general. Typically I would imagine in a squad that is podding in and might have something bigger than a base sergeant attacking me in a challenge. Any advice would be appreciated. Bloody Legionnaire
They are wonderful for leading packs of GH's either in PA or TDA. They grant bonuses in leadership and give the squads some additional weapons that are really nice to have (think combi's and power fists) I was reading in one thread that a Wolf Guard in terminator armor that is with a squad of GH who have a Standard bearer is really buffed for one round of CC because of the rerolling all ones. So if you fail a save you might still be in the fight after all. Rune Priest Jbickb
Do you mean the HQ choice or the elites choice? Just clarifying so I can provide advice of the proper nature Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278291-wolfguard-battle-leader/#findComment-3417970 Share on other sites
Sturm Moonwolf
Battle Leaders are good depending on the meta. Low point games take a Lord. Higher point games a Rune Priest and 3 cheap Battle Leaders in TDA leading Greys can be the bollocks for an opponent. Fedorarogue
@jbickb: I mean the HQ choice. See my thing with them is that they can be useful, but only really seem worth the points if you need something in particular like a combi weapon, someone to take challenges, or to make troops like blloodclaws behave properly. Is this just a misconception of how expensive they are or are they something just different enough that they do require a bit more thought? Russ Brother 92
I'm using mine in a small tourney atm - no other HQs but kitted out with Runic, SS, TWM, Power Weapon (axe or sword depending on who I face) and a Saga (Beastslayer or Hunter) - he does pretty well, it helps that we're playing 1500pts and have a 200pt limit on the HQ but yeah, he's not bad - sure he's not as much a power house as Bjorn or a kitted out Lord but overall he's very good :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278291-wolfguard-battle-leader/#findComment-3418135 Share on other sites
Rune Priest Jbickb
kitted out with Runic, SS, TWM, Power Weapon (axe or sword depending on who I face) and a Saga (Beastslayer or Hunter) I may be wrong, but I believe you cannot take saga of the hunter with a twolf mount as the model is no longer infantry and hunter is infantry only. To the op, I have taken them in low point games where I am on a points buget and need to save the 30 points. Grimtooth
For fun I took a Thunderlord and two WGBL on TWM and then joined them to a unit of TWC. Was an interesting deathstar unit running around the table back in 5th edition and wound shenanigans.
