DIY Scheme Test

Do you have a rough name for the chapter yet? It might help with additional comments regarding the scheme if there was a reason for that particular combination (of course, you might just like it, which is fine).

I like it, personally, the grey does not clash with the yellow, and if painted correctly, it could make the yellow 'pop'.

Hmm.

I'm not really a fan of having the crotch a different colour from both the legs and stomach.

It's like painting a bullseye where no bullseye should exist even in the grimdark far future.

Apart from that it wouldn't be an easy scheme to paint, but it does look pretty good. turned.gif

I agree, make belt and crotch grey and it's a go.

Same for me :)

I like it. I think if you can get the yellow exactly as shown here it will look great. As opposed to a bright yellow. I've heard good things about people using army painter demonic yellow spray as an undercoat. They say it helps get an even tone.

Over that the gw mechanicus grey will cover well as its a base color. I'm using mechanicus grey in my paint scheme and it goes on a treat. Only need one coat. I mix it with abbadon black to darken it. This goes well with a lighter couloir ( ie your yellow as shown) as it offers a good contrast).

Stick with it, as you say, it will work really well as IF successor chapter.

Ps the crotch and belt look fine IMO.

I like the yellow, but I'm not a fan of the gray as I think that it blends too much with the yellow. You don't necessarily need to change the color to one that "clashes" with the yellow, but a bit more contrast would help. A slightly darker shade of gray would work just fine.

As for the yellow crotch/belt, I don't like the swimsuit look. In this case, I agree with the suggestion to make the crotch/belt the same color as the upper legs and torso. If your upper legs were a different color from the torso, you could get away with the crotch/belt matching one or the other.

Having that much neutral tone between the segments of yellow may actually really dull down the overall look, as opposed to making the yellow 'pop' more.

Or it might not.  I'm generally pretty good with these things, but my experience with yellow in the last 10 years or so begins and ends with airbrushing the trim on one Drop Pod's doors, and even that was ludicrously uncooperative.  Like 5 coats on a neutral gray surface, and it still looks 'dirty.'

Coming up with a scheme is always rough.  Personally I think the yellow/gray complement each other very well.  But like everyone else it seems like a yellow speedo on the cod piece.  But you definitely need something there or its just too much gray in the middle of the fig.
