Black Templar Sternguard Veterans

These are my freshly built Black Templar Sternguard Vets that I use in my vanilla crusade themed sm army.

I collected the parts for over a year from various sources like forgeworld, ebay and other sites that sell bitz. I bought a tactical squad box from witch i took the back parts of the torsos, legs and some backpacks (it was better to buy the whole box than buy those things separately!),

They still need some trimming job and their bases done, but for now I am satisfied that they are finally out of the bitz box and standing on their own !

I like this guy over here, he's representing some sort of chaplain added to the squad. His hands were converted from a grenade hand and a missile launcher hand to look like he's blessing his squad.. He's still just a normal model

I've magnetized the right hands of these two so i can use the heavy flamer option if i wanted to. The magnets are hidden under the medals

Now i could really use a few ideas on how to paint them to broaden my opinion.

Would you use red to paint the shoulder crosses?

And would you use red on some other parts since i see pictures of BT vets with a lot of red on them, even their robes

Red cross's. Red robes would look cool.
