teblin
Cold and fast, Soul Drinkers! Beginning a SD army to use with the new SM codex when it arrives. Approaching completion, now beginning highlights, shading and eventually some freehand Chapter heraldry. http://i44.tinypic.com/ifcp6u.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278519-soul-drinkers-updated-18-august-2013/ Share on other sites

teblin
I'm basing it on the official GW Soul drinkers, before they began to mutate and so on. I haven't read any of the novels but I understand they prefer a style of combat similar to the Blood Angels, so eventually I'll paint up some Assault Marines. Dosjetka
Looks like you're onto a solid start I'll be keeping an eye out for your next update! EDIT: I know that it may be a bit early to ask, but what kind of basing theme are you going for with this army? teblin
I'll be going for urban bases, with grey being the main colour. I'll be experimenting with Citadel's Dry paint (namely Astrogranite for this army). NovemberIX
Very awesome, I know it's a challenging build, and that looks like a great starting point! teblin
Ohhh, "challenging build" sums this model up perfectly! I was so relieved when I assembled it. Yes, it makes a nice centre piece for my army as it begins to develop. Firepower
Desperately needs that gold and white to break things up, but it's a good start. Dosjetka
I'll be going for urban bases, with grey being the main colour. I'll be experimenting with Citadel's Dry paint (namely Astrogranite for this army). Could I suggest you try and find an alternative basing method? From what I've heard, you can't even decently base a 10-man squad with one pot, so I'm guessing you'll be needing at least one, if not two pots on that flyer base (which will cost you an arm, a leg, both of your kidneys, your soul and/or the soul(s) of your child(ren). Not really worth it IMHO ;)). Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278519-soul-drinkers-updated-18-august-2013/#findComment-3425533 Share on other sites
teblin
Oh dear, well I do have some other stuff I can use, I'll try to combine them And I am working on the other colours Firepower, but I feel the white won't look nice alongside gold and purple. Actually I was wrong, the white looks rather nice :> I'll post an update tomorrow. Firepower
Gold, purple and white is one of the most classic of color schemes :) I've used it several times myself when tinkering around with other projects. It's quite possibly my favorite combination, actually, next to the all time class black, white, and red. :) Glad you had the sense to see that for yourself. I'm too tired from these last couple of weeks to administer a paddlin' with my usual finesse :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278519-soul-drinkers-updated-18-august-2013/#findComment-3425623 Share on other sites
philsminions
Alright! A man after my own heart. My first love will always be the BTs, but since reading the Soul Drinkers series, I have been "jonsing" to build a bad ass purple people eater army. I figure the BTs won't disown me as long as I keep it in the "family". Another assaulty Sons of Dorn army is just the thing to cure what ails you! I have tetered back and forth whether I want to build a "Pre Star Fort" or "Post Fall" army. I think adding all sorts of crazy CSM arms, legs, heads, etc, would make for an interesting look, but it would take some serious time and thought process to do it up right - not to mention, doing Sarpedon true justice - I've only seen one model of him that truly looks legit, and I sadly don't have those skills. I'm thinking a big, spidery, librarian model will take some time and the right bits if I decide to do it myself and not have one commissioned. I do know that I will be focussing on a drop pod army, complete with at least one Dred (Daenyathos) for fluffyness, and as many sternguard as I can squeeze into a force org chart. I really like the story line, so I am going to stick with as many named characters and squads as I can. Unfortunately, adhering to fluff, I won't be fielding very many purple vehicles. I'll have to either sway a bit in order to fit in some competitiveness, or just give in to the fact that I'll be getting my ass kicked on a regular basis. I can sleep soundly either way...afterall, there doesn't seem to be a very fanatical SD following as there are in other chapters. All of these ideas are great, but I cannot begin this project until my nearly 5,000 points of BTs are completely done and ready for the board. Due to deployments and "grown up" responsibilities, everything is in storage until winter. I'll be sure to follow your progress, however. I'm really interested to see how your guys turn out. Best of luck to you! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278519-soul-drinkers-updated-18-august-2013/#findComment-3425636 Share on other sites
teblin
Update on the Storm Eagle, highlights finished, but unfortunately I'm not skilled enough to make any convincing freehand designs, eventually I'll get some transfer paper and download an online Soul Drinkers transfer sheet. Apart from that, it's very nearly done. http://i43.tinypic.com/34r6g3k.png http://i40.tinypic.com/30uak2g.png http://i41.tinypic.com/vfjimw.png A couple other models that I'm working on. http://i39.tinypic.com/2a6s85z.png And a Deimos Predator Executioner. http://i41.tinypic.com/6zxyjq.png Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278519-soul-drinkers-updated-18-august-2013/#findComment-3427200 Share on other sites
