Shifte
One thing I'd like to see is a bit more lore on the individual combat doctrines which are used by the major Orders Militant. It wouldn't have to be rules supported, but I'd like to see some fluff that indicated tactical and cultural variance between them. Obviously, every Order will be able to do everything, ultimately. Still, there must be some differences in order to justify their existence. How do you see them differing? Here is my own take on them: The Convent Prioris (Terra): The Ebon Chalice: They're the only Order which has directly continued on from the original Daughters of the Emperor and apparently maintain the original doctrines. Sister Alicia Dominica is their Honoured Saint. Therefore, I'd see this Order as being the least likely to use non-Sororitas units. In particular, they'd possess an inordinate number of Celestians. The Sacred Rose: This is the Order which is particularly renowned for its resolve and calm demeanor. Their Honoured Saint is Sister Arabella, who famously lived longer than the other members of the original six Sisters who 'met' the Emperor. Their background suggests that they are well known for their retributor squads. Therefore, I like to primarily think of the Sacred Rose as building armies which are based around an 'enduring mountain' principle. Lots of fortifications which are supported by heavy tanks and retributors. The Argent Shroud: The Argent Shroud takes its name from Saint Silvana, who was known for being the first Sister to lead a Crusade. In the past, they have come into conflict with two Blood Angels successor chapters and sent 7,000 Sororitas to fight in the Armageddon War. I like to think of the Argent Shroud as being the most proactive and heroically-reckless Order of the Sisterhood. Therefore, I tend to imagine them as possessing a lot of immolators and generating more miracles than their fellows. The Convent Sanctorum (Ophelia VII): The Bloody Rose: The Bloody Rose has a reputation for sharing the ferocity of their forebear, Saint Mina. They're renowned for making use of Dominion Squads as part of swift, devastating assaults. Therefore, I like to imagine Bloody Rose armies as focusing on both Dominions and Seraphim as part of their fast-attack orientated operations. The Valorous Heart: The Valorous Heart honours Sister Lucia. They are extremely penitent and believe that the Sororitas role in the reign of blood must never be forgotten. They possess an inordinate number of Sisters Repentia. I imagine their armies as involving large squads of Sisters Repentia charging across the field, backed up by an advancing wall of Battle Sisters. Our Martyred Lady: I hate to call these ladies the 'generic' Order, but they really do fit that role well. Their most famous characteristic is their merciless nature and thirst for vengeance, but that simply translates into 'battlefield efficiency'. Based on the novels, the old codex and their role as the flagship Order, I tend to imagine that Our Martyred Lady aren't known for one particular strategy. Shifte
Aye, but a lot of it is pretty vague and never seems to translate into modern lore. I'd quite like to see it expanded on when they get around to updating Sisters lore. Basically, I think they could do a lot more to characterise the Orders Militant and wanted to see if folk agreed or had ideas about it.
