-edit- However my all time favorite reads concerning the wolves will have to come from 2nd edition codex and the 5th edition codex. Not to mention the articles inside Index Astartes II (white dwarf collections) that have all those tiny reads and paragraphs about the lore, the wolf king and fluff.. nothing will ever beat that!

I am still open on Blood of Asaheim. Depends on where this story is going to go. I am still waiting for another Horus Heresy novel starring the SW. I was shocked to read in the Scars post that A.D.B reckons that some BL authors are too scared to write about the SW because of SW fanboys trolling. That must be one of the most silly reasons not write about SW.

Naw. Some of us have talked about it how unpleasant the reaction is to several books and how ludicrous some of the anger is - not because of valid criticism, but unreasonable bias no matter who's writing it, or what they're writing about. How all of that can make you think twice, or second guess yourself. A cursory forum search should show some fine examples (always the same 3 or 4 names, by the way) of just why some authors and IP contributors think that, but if you check out the actual quote, it's not quite as serious as you make it sound here, dude.

Space Wolves are the biggest Space Marine fanbase. You get more of every kind of fan (good, bad, biased, insightful) in a bigger fanbase. Simple as that.

People will always write about the Space Wolves, because the Space Wolves are awesome. There's a lot to write about. I froth at the mouth at the idea of their lore.

And even if an author is a suspicious and cowardly kind of fellow, you've gotta remember, a Space Wolf book is a license to print money whether it's good or bad. So that'll always figure into a publisher's decision somewhere. The contents in a lot of 40K work are almost irrelevant, when the IP is what sells the overwhelming majority of copies. You've got readers that buy it purely because of the Chapter name. Readers that buy it purely because of the lore and new information. And you've got a lot of both of those kinds. That doesn't mean you should aim low and cut corners in your writing. Never that. But it does mean even if everyone magically became a coward and decided they hated the Space Wolves, one author somewhere would still pounce for the cash rewards. So their lore will never stop coming, don't worry. Even if we all become bizarrely terrified and allergic to cool Void Viking lore.

So a little unease about a handful of fans is natural, but it's not enough to completely banish all mention of a Chapter or Legion.

I mean, when I write Master of Mankind, one of the main characters will be a Space Wolf. Chris is still writing his Space Wolf series, and they get a mention in Scars. There's other stuff involving the Wolves before the Heresy is over, obviously.

Yeah, I'm fairly certain a few people with an unreasonably biased opinion are vastly outweighed by legions of fans chomping at the bit for another SW book, regardless of author.

Now if we could just get Mr. Swallow to loan out the Blood Angels for a little while... need more angels... much more *twitch*...

Definitely Prospero Burns and what little I've read of Battle of the Fang as they have really inspired my modeling/painting/backstory for my army. Ragnar series was good, but a little goofy at times. PB and BotF were both very grimdark, and very cool takes on the wolves which was what I was looking for.

Well I am very relieved to read your statement Aaron. I hope the cool sagas keep coming. You are right about the SW cash cow. I apologize for any misinterpretation in my first statement about SW fanboys scaring authors.

Glad to see the Wolves will be getting more HH stuff in future :P Would be disapointed if it was just Prospero Burns! however the only SW book i've read has been Blood of Asaheim (so far i have more waiting on my shelf). While it wasn't a bad book i was annoyed that i could tell exactly what was going to happen throughout the book which didn't leave any sense of tension when it should have done.

Hopefully that will be remedied in the sequel ;)

While I like the tales directly involving the Primachs I feel some of the best characters in the HH are your normal marines. In Vulkan Lives the Salamander fans got the thoughts Vulkan!!! But I liked that martial Word Bearer (Narek?) the best.

All these storys inspire me when I build, paint and game with my great company, thats what its all about for me.

What I really think is SW need one or few characters (marines) who will be remembered...I mean we have gene modified Hawser :-), there is also young Bjorn who would be a perfect candidate for making sagas but he is still a little undefined....Also BoA was fething great.....

Doesn't Bjorn in Battle of the Fang remembed back to his mortal days and mention Godsmote (Fith of the Ascommi)? Maybe he might make some additional appearances from him. Lord Gunn in Prospero Burns seemed to be someone that would be around awhile as well.

I agree having someone like loken or saul tarvitz from the horus heresy books would be cool just so theres someone to focus on and build something around. The Space Wolf lore is a little thin when it comes to anything heresy or pre heresy which is a tad disapointing. I can only hope we get more as it comes to the alpha legion vs wolf match up.
