GrandMagnus
Hi brothers, Im sure this has been asked a 1000 times, but I cant find any thread. So what is good to remove paint from FW resin without dissolving the mini? Ive heard oven cleaner, but Im not sure. Verbal Underbelly
I've used Dettol; it did make some of the model's extremities soft so I wouldn't recommend that. It did remove the paint though... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278622-removing-paint-from-fw-resin/#findComment-3427874 Share on other sites
Bongfu
LA's Totally Awesome I use it on all minis. Its fast, safe on plastic/resin, and doesn't smell the house up! GrandMagnus
Verbal underbelly: Hmm, id rather not use anything that makes the minis "bendi". Bongfu: This looks interesting, but Im wondering if I can get it here in Europe. Billy Butcher
Fairy power spray in the UK - you can get it in Tesco. Doesn't smell bad and is water soluble. Just make sure you use a soft toothbrush after its been left on for a day (if it needs that long, sometimes a few hours is enough) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278622-removing-paint-from-fw-resin/#findComment-3430774 Share on other sites
p34ce
Oven cleaner works best, and you don't even have to leave it for a day - two hours is usually enough. Depending on what type of paint is on the model, and how long it's been on the model, it could take two or three separate applications. I think this topic belongs in the General PCA Questions section. GrandMagnus
Allright, thank you brothers. Ill try using oven cleaner first since thats what I currently have available. If the one Ive got doesnt work (for whatever reason) Ill try and find some of that Fairy power spray. Tanhausen
Isopropyl alcohol. Cheap, easy to get a hold of and strips paint and primer like a charm. Y en el Mercadona lo puedes comprar a 3 euros los 1,5L (sección de limpieza, alcohol para limpiar). Hope it helps! Whenever I've tried isopropyl alcohol on set acrylic it wouldn't touch it - go figure. GrandMagnus
Okay, I tried an oven cleaner, let it sit for 2 hours and it took most of it off but not all. I will have to try Isopropyl. By the way, any ideas how to dissolve glue? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278622-removing-paint-from-fw-resin/#findComment-3432787 Share on other sites

Adeptus-Alaska
I use simple green as well, but be careful, It also will make resin/finecrap minis bendy. some time I use nail polish remeover SPARINGLY, soak for about 20 min. then dip brush in and scrub gently! Firepower
Castrol super clean works great for me on plastic (until I through enamel at it) but I dunno how it will perform on resin.
