Possums penance

Greetings sons of the lion, congratulations on your worthy success in the ETL.

The ET is now over but not done... Under normal circumstance I am a proud champion of the 8th legion, but in a moment of ill considered spite I vowed that if Chaos could not beat the Dark angels in the ETL I would paint a tactical squad of unforgiven for my son's fledgling D.A. company. Now as we all know Chaos were beaten firmly into 4th place whilst the Angels of the emperor flew high in first place so I'm here to pay my penance debt.

Inspired by Jeremy1391 and of course the redoubtable Captain Semper I've decide that a squad of consecrators is a fitting tribute to the power of the 1st.

I only hope I have managed to do justice to those who have inspired me.

4 down 6 to go before my debt is paid.

I hope these serve as an acceptable honour tithe to all commanders of the 1st legion that took part in the ETL.

Thank you for your kind words Gillyfish, Grotsmasha and Cod lover. To be honest seeing them so big in the images has made me really self critical so your kind words are even more appreciated.

I'm still finding black armour hard to get right, but the client is very happy with them ( mind you as he is a ten year old boy that's not saying muchlaugh.png )

Still another day another Consecrator.

So half way, if I can maintain my one a day rate only 5 more days till I can return to my happy fear obsessive psyco's.wink.png

Thanks for looking

Welcome to the Rock Punk Possum! Now you cannot leave.

Congrats on your choice of Unforgiven! You've done a great job, good call with the green casings, and the eyes of the melta guy? Pure win!

Keep it up, and if you get your hands on Heresy era stuff, don't hesitate to use them! :D

@ Cactus Thanks a lot I wasn't sure if there was an "official" colour for the frocks sorry robes but red seems to be a consecrator approved colour so red robes it was.

@ Captain Semper Given my heretical past I'm guessing its the interrogator chaplains that want me to stay? wink.png I use the old old Mike Mcvey metord for eyes black orb and then a spot of white either side to make the pupil. The green casings are just my way of tying them a bit more into the whole D.A. look. and funny you should mention the Heresy era thing I've got a chap with MKV bit in the pipe line and I've ordered a bunch of MK6 heads as I'm not sure about how the MK7's look.

As I said at the start you and Jeremy1391 are really the inspiration behind these chaps I hope I'm doing you justice.thanks.gif

I feel your pain about the black - it can be a real pain to paint. I find that mixing black with the greys works well as almost any GW grey paint is too light for a first highlight! Then keeping the highlights very tight around edges also seems to work and helps avoid the marine looking 'washed out'. Gloss varnish can help give depth to the black too.

Thanks for the advice I'm working on it, who knows by the time I've finished this squad I might just be getting towards competent...

Well there's more taking me up to 6 down 4 to go.

Well that's all for now folks! Any comments gratefully received.

Yours the penitent Possum.

Greetings once more Scions of the first. There has been some penitential progress but first.

Pain the kid's Terminators next!! - They look great possum.  Very good job.

Paul

Hi Paul thanks for looking in do you mean something like this? I painted up the Dark angel component of the D.V. box as a surprise present for him whilst he was away at Cub camp.

They all look good, but the melta gunner is especially well done. That head and the eyes are just ace.

I guess I'll have to post my penance thread in this forum as well.

Thank you for looking in, I'm posting my penance here because I owe a debt of honour to the First.

Ok so I promised progress on the penance vow and here it is.

So 7 down 3 to go now...

These guys continue to be outstanding, really digging that mkV!!!!

Cheers,

Jono

Thank you very much, I don't know if the boy will appreciate me surrendering the last of my MK5 bits stock (they had been earmarked for another grizzled veteran of the long war) but I just felt with the whole fluff about the consecrators having relic equipment it was the only right thing to do. I didn't much like the mk7 helmets on two of the previous guys so I ordered some MK6 heads from "let the dice decide" they aren't the cheapest bits merchant out there but they had the right bits in stock and the delivery was blindingly fast I ordered the bits on Thursday night and they turned up Saturday morning, I was very impressed.  so now I present another beaky I deliberately posed him in a classic RTB01 type pose as it made me all nostalgic and the Consecrators are basically Rouge Trader era Dark Angels. Right now I have proved what an old and out of touch  codger I am here is the next bolter guy:

8 down 2 to go, but I have to confess I'm getting quite fond of these Unforgiven, who knows there may be more in the future...

Till the next time be well sons of Caliban.

Looking good! thumbsup.gif

Thank you, I took a look at your Guardians, very nice indeed

My penance is at an end, The Consecrators are now all finished in spite of a trying week at work.

So here are the last 2 dudes First up bolter guy 7

Thanks very much, very kind! :)

It's been a pleasure seeing your Consecrators, and they've really captured the correct level of grimdark (I especially like the Sergeant)! Don't stay away from the 1st Legion for too long, once the interrogators get their hooks in you.... ;)
