Rumored release for SW

An update to the old Ragnar model would be nice. Bought him in the early 90's, has that cartoonish old school look.

Oh god yes :S

There are some bad ass looking plastic conversions knocking about so i would have thought gee dubs would give us a new one!

From a post in news and announcements it looks like the Wolves are slated for a May codex folowed up with a 13th Co supplenent to coincide with a Thousand Sons.

Where did you see this?  I haven't seen anything that suggests a Space Wolves codex at all much less a release date..

If we're asking for new sculpts, I'd say first one needed is the TDA Rune Priest, c'mon the guy is half the size of a modern termi :/ and then it would be Rags and Ulrik, both supposedly fearsome, fast warriors yet in completely static positions...

I really hope this turns out to be correct. On so many levels, this would make me happy.

The idea of tying the 13th co and 1k Sons expansions together is brilliant, and if it coincides with FW releasing 30k Wolves it would be an avalanche of awesome.

I actually genuinely hope that we don't get a flyer, for fluff reasons, but that we *do* get access to flak and some kind of AA tank.

I also really *desperately* want a resculpt of Ragnar. The model looks goofy and foolish next to the latest generation of plastics.

I'd like to see Blood Claws reduced in points.  We need a reliable, point-efficient, anti-flyer option - be that our own flyer or with other stuff.  Personally, I hope for our own flyer.  I'd like to see TWC have points adjusted, or a stat bump (like to WS5).  WG weapons need a drop in points.  We'll also probably get some new unit, it might even be something ridiculous like a giant mutated wolf-marine MC. :P

Blood Claws don't need to have a points reduction as long as you use them in the right way.  Load them up with a wolf priest and ALWAYS have them at full strength.  Run at something and they'll either get shot to pieces meaning something else isn't getting shot at or ignored and then they eat something.  The WP bonus makes the WS3 bearable.

yeah, but so far, it seems the development team is reading just as much into it :(

I don't need an air unit for my SW (xept for transportships) but I would love to have something to get those airborn enemies down to the ground so I can hit them with mah hammer...

an aircannon or something, like what they use to break / push away clouds, flaktanks, psychic power like "murder of crows" or something, hell, even simple flakk missiles for missile launchers

I'd be totally happy myself with just flakk missiles and access to the hunter/stalker aa tanks the vanilla's are getting. But if we did get a flyer, as long as it wasn't something like a thunderwolf with wings or some crap, I'd probably use it too.

a small flock of unmanned anti-air drones would be cool too... a sort of gliders that maintain a certain altitude over the battlefield, and when their sensors detect enemie flyers, they point towards them, drop the wings, and fire themselves towards it like rockets :)

Our lack of air power is a little bit like the Dwarf's lack of magic in Fantasy. It's interesting, but it does lead to challenges in terms of game balance and options in the army book.

Sign me up as one of the folks who thinks we need access to Space Marine fliers.

Unlike the companies of other Chapters, every Great Company of the Space Wolves has its own fleet.  The whole concept for the Adeptus Astartes is that they are a space-based military organization that sails on the sea of stars to protect the Imperium from threats.  They operate in, from, and through space using such craft as Battle Barges, Strike Cruisers, assorted Frigates, Thunderhawk Transporters, Thunderhawk Gunships, Land Speeders, and even the humble Drop Pod.  Space Wolves clearly don't have a problem with spacecraft, aircraft, or what we now generically term "flyers".  Somebody is going to have to come up with an argument that is significantly more compelling than "fight with two feet on the ground, as Russ intended" to convince me that we don't warrant our own air and space capable transports and gunships to fill the void that currently exists in our inventory.

Flyers will be in. Even if we just get the Vanilla Marine's Flyers that will be enough. I wish we could give Living Lightning Skyfire! It makes sense! They are bolts of lightning, ya'll! If you can't hit a Flyer with lightning you should not be an Astartes!

Dear GW, make Blood Claws fun again without requiring me to field a Wolf Priest. Also, make some Blood Claw Biker kits! I want those! Nothing says, BAMF like a Wulfen Blood Claw on a freaking motorcycle screaming into close combat!

Off topic ish... All this opposition to flyers confuses me. They would most likely take up FA slots (of which we have much to spare) and if its an attack type of flyer it completely eliminates the need for tanks... Thus we can have our HS slots completely dedicated to long fangs. Win Win Winning in my book! Not to mention since our armies lean to mostly troop composition aircraft grant an incredible advantage for troop support... Any one not understand why the apache gunship is so awesome? I believe they would be perfect for foot sluggers which this edition seems to favor.
