FashaTheDog
I have a Dornian Heresy Chaos army and am working on converting all the units over. For most of the codex, this is fairly easy. A few units have given me some trouble and here I would like some help. These five units are listed below with what I am thinking of using, but cannot come up with something out of the official fluff. Ahriman - A Raven Guard Librarian Typhus - Blood Angels character in Terminator armor or perhaps Mephiston Lucius - A White Scars character Fabius Bile Thousand Sons Squads - Closest I figure is Iron Hands, but the allied Necrons represents them better For reference I converted the rest of the unique characters and cult troops as: Abaddon - Sigismund the Despoiler Khârn - Ragnar the Betrayer Huron - Vulkan He'stan Berserkers - Space Wolf Berserkers of Khorne Plague Marines - Blood Angels Plague Marines Noise Marines - Sisters of Slaanesh (Retributors with Noise Marine arms) Warpsmiths are predominately Imperial Fist and Dark Apostles are mainly Dark Angels as well and the remainder of the codex did not need conversion. While predominately Imperial Fist, at least after the ETL III, the army list I've decided as my "standard 2K list" is something of a Dornian sampler platter as I have a unit of Raven Guard Tzeentch Raptors and will be adding a unit of White Scar Slaaneshi bikers as well as a unit of Malalamanders with four flamers and a combi-flamer armed champion as either Chosen or Havocs (yet to decide and I'll be able to swap on a whim). I also have a Dark Angels Ravenwing Sorcerer in the list (I also painted a Dark Angels Chaos Lord and two Space Wolf Khorne Lords, one on foot, the other on a Juggernaut). I do plan to add more units so I can change the list without raiding my loyalist Space Wolf or Dark Angels armies. Eventually I'll get another Dark Vengeance box and turn that into mostly Dark Angels and add some marked Chaos Marines for each of the Dornian Legions appropriate to their mark. Now, I want to use all the special characters as well as Thousand Sons and I like the idea of converting iconic characters loyal to the Emperor into their Dornian Chaos counterparts. Some of those characters, like Lysander, Lemartes, Azrael, and Grimnar, will simply represented by generic characters with similar equipment. Thus, I ask for help working out the five above units. Spinsanity
Can't really help with any of the others (especially since I haven't read any of the White Scars HH books) but I'd go with the following four : - Typhus : Amit (Blood Angels 5th co commander); since I've only just begun reading Fear to Thread, I haven't yet seen any Ba terminators, but he does wear TDA in Flesh of Cretacia so I guess he could fit. - Khârn: Bjorn (Wolf Lord of Tra, by the time Russ leaves, I assume) Since Ragnar is a 40k character, he doesn't really fit the role, imo, but that's just me... - Huron : I thought the Sallies were renegades in the Dornian heresy, so using one of the Dornian rebel legions as the one from which Huron would appear 10 000 years later would seem more appropriate; maybe call him (for example) Lucius to clearly show his origins as an EC chapter master? - Fabius : I thought Fabius had turned to chaos in the Dornian heresy (and, amongst other things, been responsible for the RG's genetic failure) so should still be himself? FashaTheDog
I am not sticking strictly to famous 30K Legionnaires as I can make the assumption that somewhere along the lines, the individual was guided by fate into the Legion (or in the case of successor Chapters, their genesire's) the official fluff intended or it just so happens that some other guy who just so happened to have the same name rose to a prominent position that made them have roughly the same place in the Dornian universe. That way I can play to all the well known names and faces for recognition sake and also so I can take many of the Imperial models we all know and love and twist them into a Chaos version. I was under the impression Fabulous Bill was killed so I needed to find another famous Apothecary (Corbulo?), but I am probably wrong. As for Ragnar the Betrayer, I finished him for the first ETL. http://s22.postimg.org/utdr78uxd/Ragnar.jpg As for the Salamanders, they fell to Malal and am including a squad as I have some really fun ideas for some neat conversions and kit bashing. Huron makes for the perfect Salamanders' character since his Red Corsairs are Undivided and while not from a Legion, are still quite the force and are renegades in the official fluff, so the translation to a Legion works, plus his rules fit nicely too. For the model, I am thinking that I could take He'stan's body and the arms of Huron for the base model then decide upon how to meld the the Salamander's icon from He'stan's backpak with the Octed. Add some more little bits here or there with the quartered paint scheme of black (with flames if I can get them looking good which, sadly, I doubt) and green to call it great. Verythrax Draconis
For Tzeentch/RG I would go with undead marines, a la LotD, with bare skulls instead of helmets, and black armor with purpleish tone and odd magical runes. You can even add some undead marines using other legions armor to add the horror that your opponent can be fighting against his own fallen conrades. For noise marines and Fabius, I would stick with the White Scars. Another added bonus is that CSM bikes with MoS are awesome. For Dark Apostoles, they can be IF, I don't think DA fits here, since DH-DA are the alternate Alpha Legion, without the old Hydra cults thing. Also different from AL, DH-DA don't seem to be chaos tainted/inclined, but simply renegade. DH is more clena cut regarding those allegiances. Seem my posts on DH here: http://canyoudigit.blog.com/category/dornian-heresy/ They were written when the CSM codex was new, and some stuff I would do differently now. Maybe I'll re-visit the theme sometime in the future ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278769-help-converting-chaos-marine-units-to-dornian-heresy/#findComment-3457516 Share on other sites
