How happy would you be if they reexplained the final battle?

Since we're talking endgame, I'll widen the subject a bit: I want, nay, I need to know how it went with each Primarch. Why Angron wasn't able to just shoulder-tackle his way inside the Palace once a breach was open. How Perturabo managed to coordinate a siege assault with so many rampaging looneys. If Magnus just gave himself to revenge and went all 4th of July on the loyalists. How Lorgar reacts to his plan crumbling because Horus invited the most powerful psyker in the galaxy for tea and oblivion.

By the way, are the Alpha Legion there, as well? I could never get that figured out. Even without them, those are a lot of Primarchs. Sure they have the attackers' disadvantage in a siege, but I'd like to know in detail how they failed.

On the whole "watching from the sidelines"...yeah, I can see how that could be done and make for a good read, but it's something best left for a Visions book, I believe. The point of the HH novels is for us to be shown the cruel truth. The barbs Horus will throw the Emperor and the latter having to deal with a Chaos servant who speaks some hard truths. However they want to do it, just let me know how it went. After that, yes, show me all the despair from the Chaos army.

I think the final battle was fine in visions of heresy, I don't really want a blow by blow Account :/

If Horus exterminated terra he still wouldn't be emperor, people accept terra as the home world as the species origin. You would need it in one piece to have people accept your rule

It's not just that, I've always thought you can find the perfect rationale for Horus' attempt to take Terra in, oddly enough, Star Trek DS9. There's an episode where Dukat tries to explain to Weyoun why he doesn't just kill his enemies; "A true victory is to make your enemy see they were wrong to oppose you in the first place. To force them to acknowledge your greatness."

Horus doesn't just want to tear down the Imperium and replace it, he wants his brothers, the legions of his brothers, and the peoples of the Imperium to bow to him and say "you were right all along".

So sad that spiky, tank sized tyrants are usually frowned up when "being right" is under discussion. =)

Great post, mate, I find that to be the best reason for Horus not just pushing the red button. Well, that and his daddy issues forcing him to go mano-a-mano.

I'm sure "sigh" will be commonly used for when the Iron Warriors' role is covered in story. Pity Perturabo was essential to the siege, I'd have sent him to hunt Fulgrim for being a coward, no matter how tactically unsound a decision that'd be.

"And then we kill them?"

Sorry, couldn't help myself. But that is actually a good point.

Like.

Sound or unsound, it wouldn't matter to me. I would pay hard cash to see Perturabo rip Fulgrim apart.

Sadly, with McNeil at the helm, the Iron Warriors and Emperor's Children will continue their descent into rabid stupidity. Never thought I'd have something in common with Ultramarine fans; but after Angel Exterminatus, we both now share the literary pain of watching our beloved factions turned into idiots.

You told me it was a good book....

Those two parts I mentioned made the book for me, but that's because I am a die-hard fan of Storm of Iron. Getting to see Kroeger sane, Forrix not morose, Toramino...well, Toramino was still a punk, lol. Especially my all-time favorite Iron Warrior, Grendel, got to do wht he does best. The book had potential without Fulgrim and his merry band of orgy-lovers in it. By the end of the book, you will really, really, reaaaaally hate Fulgrim.

Ill agree with that the whole fulgrim sapping another primarchs life was bull :cuss, but seeing The Lord of iron as a non statuesque heartless automaton really made the book worth it.

I loved how it showed what he wanted which was an imperium ascended into philosophical heights scientific advancement and peace, it also shows you how he allowed go have his dreams put aside to be what his father wished him to be and how slowly his dreams went unrecognised and the bitterness slowly creeped in to ultimately be twisted by Horus.

dude, spoilers. that other guy hasnt read the book!

AE made me like a primarch i didnt particularly care for before. well, like..strong word.. perhaps respect. brought a hint of that sense of tragedy that existed in some of the earlier novels back and had become rather lacking in some more recent releases.

That other guy and I talk pretty regularly over the phone, and 40k it up quite a bit. He'll kick my ass later.

You are correct though, I'll hit it up with spoiler tags.

:D And he hasn't even noticed the Athame yet,

That is IT! Turn the Strike Cruiser around right now, the new jyhad is aga...the Strike Cruiser. Where...HOW...we were IN the Strike Cruiser traveling through the Warp! How do you steal CORYPHAUS! STOP BEING MELTED ALIVE IN RAW WARP STUFF! I FORBID IT! NERAHL SQUAD! YOU STOP BOTHERING THOSE DAEMONETTES! All of you!

Look down, look up. I'm written by the author your favored Legions wish they were written by. What's in your hand? Back to me. I have them. It's the lives of those slaves to the Corpse-Emperor you've been wanting. Look again. Those souls have now been corrupted. Anything is possible when your Legion is written by a BL great. I'm on your battle-barge,
