And here is my Raven Guard Legionnaire (Mr Stabby ;p ), I've tried to keep his black very black (despite 3 highlights ;p ) - That green shoulder half looks an odd colour combo, but, thats the colour so go figure! Next up a Thousand Son, as soon as I can find a suitable head :)

When I get around to painting a Marine from each Legion, I was going to have a standard base that looks like a ruined statue to represent Legions II and XI

Well, here's a quick update, my version of a Thousand Son, man, I tell you Army Painter spray is amazing, but the brush paint (looks great) but its so thin!

Good start! I've heard mixed things about Army Painter stuff, which is why I haven't bought any yet. I'm very curious as to what that idea is now

Well here he is, possibly the brightest model I've ever put paint to!! Please let me know what you think ;p it was a real step back in time converting this model (and restricting green stuff to gap filling only). - next will be a Salamander ....

The red is spot on, as is the irony of using a death guard head for it, but as much as I love your stuff, I'm not sold on the pose, especially the way he is holding the bolter..

Cheers :) thank you the red was a difficult one to keep bright, but shade and highlight too ;p

 

The pose is a little animated, I imagine him being in the process of dropping the bolter in favour of his hand weapon, or (more likely being sneaky psyker types), forgetting the bolter in favour of voodoo nonsense ;p but your right, its not a usual pose!

Same problem, it's been a right pain with my heresy era salamanders, how do you do it?

For me, i paint like i draw (had symbol on phone for ref).

 

used a 4 point method to get the proportions right (dot of white paint at 4 most distant compass points of design, then draw cross to link them, and fill in the design from there.

 

its no easier than any other method, but it reduces sizing/orientation errors.

I put the Iron Warrior together this morning ;p - just waiting for the green stuff to dry! I've tried to go a bit retro on him, making his missile launcher a little rogue traderish, and giving him a chain sword ;p

Update - Base coat of silver, and pre wash, quite liking the new GW metallics (haven't tried them before ;p )

OK, I don't usually have fin painting metallics, but the new GW paints do make it more enjoyable! Here is my big gun toting Iron Warrior, his Legion Symbol is accurate, but is silver and I just can't get a non glare shot! Anyway, always appreciate feed back, next up... Word Bearer...

Annnd the Word Bearer, difficult this as it's my least favourite of the Legions in the fluff ;p but, I like the original colours. This is an early WIP (while I think about the model a bit more ;p ). Cheers!

Looks good yeah I don't care to much for them either but thought the paint scheme was good.

Will your bases get some more details like rocks, grass or sand in the future?

Hi there :) Yep, the bases will all match, with texture and a bit of static grass (but done in the older style).

 

I totally agree, the base really finishes the model! - They will also all get a coat of testors dull to bring down any shinyness (except the Iron Warrior ;p )

And here he is, lets face it, them Word Bearers looked like badduns from the start eh? ;p and no one likes Erebus! - It was a challenge to get a dark grey to match the guide pic, and it felt good to paint the flames on the bolter ;p - next up, is one of the Emperors Children.... time to find my purple paint!
