Dexo
Hi everybody I will like to show you the first finished tank in my upcoming (over the next 2-3 years ) vostroyan army. I tried to follow the original GW colour scheme but with a more realistic and worn look . It have taken over 3 months to complete the paint job, mostly because I uses new techniques and didn't have a clear vision of the colour scheme before I stated. Now to pictures Comments are ofcourse welcome \Dexo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278902-vostroyan-hellhound/ Share on other sites
Kais Klip
I like it, looks natural, maybe a bit too natural, sort of like those models of real life tanks; maybe a bit more battle damage to go with the nice wear and tear you put on, so that it looks at home on the battlefield rather than a refurbished model in a museum. hendrik
that my dear sir, is an absolute beauty! many a general would trade their firstborn for a tank like that! personally I dissagree with kais and think the amount of battle damage is just fine. You're painting the models that are going into a battle, not the burned up ones that come out! keep up the good work! teblin
I also think that this doesn't need any more weathering/damage, it would spoil the pristine look that matches the Vostroyan state of mind. Great work. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278902-vostroyan-hellhound/#findComment-3434107 Share on other sites

Kais Klip
I like it, looks natural, maybe a bit too natural, sort of like those models of real life tanks; maybe a bit more battle damage to go with the nice wear and tear you put on, so that it looks at home on the battlefield rather than a refurbished model in a museum. You mean like actual bullet holes and stuff ? Nah just surface damage, like the corners of your turret; they have some scratches on the sides that would do very well to temper the rest of the tank body. Don't get me wrong, the colour matching and smooth layer you achieved is very very nice, but the slight colour weathering you've added on the nuts and bolts of the body suggests the tank has been tempered by the elements. The fact that there's no wear and tear leads us to think it was tempered while sitting in a garage rather than on the battlefield. My main point is too break up the large areas of colour (very well done colour it must be said), you can do that through paint chipping and other wear and tear (like the weathering you already have there) or you can add lots more accessories to keep the eye busy. Otherwise its a bit drab, like a long stretch of desert; the actual sand is nice, but there is nothing for the eye to focus on and flicker in between. Thus, it has a bit of an "unnatural" edge to my eye. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278902-vostroyan-hellhound/#findComment-3434129 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Looks very good, though I hope the next one doesn't take 3 months or your army will never hit the table top! :P I see what Kais is talking about, some chipping would break it up a bit but like all weathering it's entirely subjective and depends on what you want. Though you could probably say that for all aspects of painting... Dexo
Just a little addition to the model :) a friend over at a local Danish board pointed out that I needed to make some freehand on the scrolls, so I did, It is my first attempt to du freehand text so even then the result isn't perfect I am vary happy with it. WarriorFish
Emperor's biscuits, 3 hours!? Does that include the invocations and litanies of painting? :P It paid off though as the scroll looks very good. The odd time I've done a scroll I cheated and used a pen  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278902-vostroyan-hellhound/#findComment-3436765 Share on other sites
