Volkite Chargers

Recommended Posts

In an effort to get my Praetor just right, I ordered some Volkites Chargers from FW with the thought, I'm a Salamander I'm going to be using them a lot..however when it came to looking for a squad who can use them I realised no squad does, they are basically an upgrade for a bolter, so they ain't the ones used by the support squad or the heavy support squad. Am I right in this or am I missing something?

Do you think Salamanders may receive a rule to upgrade their troops to use them rather than Bolters? *crosses fingers*

Aren't Chargers assault 2? And bolters are rapid fire. So the Charger would be the same option as other "assault" weapons.

I think the other Volkite weapons are both heavy 1, so that leaves them as support and heavy support.

The Tactical Support Squads carry the Caliver version, which is weird as you're right it is a heavy version. Shouldn't support squads have assault weapons?

Nah "tactical support" squads are more like "special weapons" squads. They have the options like flamers and plasma and such that are normally 1 per for 40k tact squads. They are there to supplement the tactical squads in their job of "stand and shoot". Its just that tactical support squads can be built to stand and shoot at things bolters alone can't kill effectively.

I agree the heavy 1 on the Caliver does set it apart from the other options for the support squad.

The chosen in the command squad can take chargers as a replacement for the bolters.

With the tactical support squads, I see the squad with calivers providing long range fire support and holding a rear objective while the tactical squads advance to rid fire range. It's hvy 2 as well, not hvy 1 :)
