the jeske
At times like this, it's best to ignore the jeske. He tends to imagine that his little corner of the Eurasian Competative microcosm is the be-all and end-all. And that no game style or meta exists beyond whatever bit of Russia he lives in. Go check French , Spanish or German forums then for their chaos lists then. I also have no idea why people think am talking about tournaments. The question OP asked was not about tournaments , it was about casual game play against his brother. He is not losing because his brother has some sort of ultra OP chaos army , OP doesn't even let him use flyers and that is like half of the power chaos has against meq armies. OP loses , because his SW is bad . And the only way for his brother to start losing to him would be to use the same class of unit [chosen are more or less WG and abadon is a tax like logan , only abadon gives less utility] like chosen . And no one views chosen as good. Check even this forums chaos section and the talk about chosen both with the normal and BL sub dex , and check how "good" they are seen by others. No chaos player takes Chosen? Tell that to Chaos Lord Bubba, who fielded a squad of them with 5 or 6 plasma, lead by Abaddon. Out of seven people and across a dozen or more games, I was the only one to beat them. He only stopped using them 'cause everybody complained that they kept getting tabled. Do you know how much they cost , how much the tax abadon costs ,how easy they die? And you can't get 6 plasmas in to a chosen unit you can get max 5 , the 6th would have to be a combi weapon from an HQ. Jarl Deathwolf
Do you know how much they cost , how much the tax abadon costs ,how easy they die? And you can't get 6 plasmas in to a chosen unit you can get max 5 , the 6th would have to be a combi weapon from an HQ. Then it'd have to be 5 then. Still, you'd be surprised how effective it is as a psychological weapon. Mark o' Nurgle on everyone, and then they plod forward. Anything short of heavy armor that approaches them dies. Assault them and you deal with Abaddon. Bolter fire needs large quantities. Heavy weapons will do... until you realize Abby just takes the saves. I beat it when I mastered the art of attacking from an unexpected angle. Expensive? Sure. Effective though. We can deal with flyers, and we should be prepared to do so every game. Between fortifications, long fangs, speeders, razorbacks, divination rune priests, dreads... we have the tools. Just because it doesnt say skyfire doesnt mean we cant get the job done. Unless you meant that the drakes likely to get a shot off first? Yeah, it is- and thats ok. Its the same price as a GH squad before transport, so if it kills half of one.... ok? Still doing well. Reminds me of my last game against Chaos, where they fielded Fateweaver, Soul Grinder and a heldrake. They roasted my grey hunters, but Alrik the Strategic Genius kept protecting the last three grey hunters with FnP. I basically ignored his giant death machines and killed everything else, taking the objectives for Russ and the Allfather. Good times. Still, my very best defense against Heldrakes is fielding 2 full packs of Long Fangs behind an ADL with either a Quad Gun or Icarus (starting to lean toward Quad Gun since it can't be used well against me and gives me more shots) and Alrik the Diviner. It takes at least a full round of decent shooting to kill it, while the rest of his army advances on me. It is annoying, especially considering that the Heldrake tends to kill off a sizable portion of my Long Fangs, making it take even longer. Every other flyer I've faced (Grey Knights, Blood Angels, Space Marines, Necrons) I have no problem with because I can at least try to get a save for my normal troops against them. With the Heldrake's AP3, template attack... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/278912-dealing-with-gunlines/page/2/#findComment-3438562 Share on other sites
irwit
I have a drop pod with 8 WG with combi plasmas. Be daring with deployment, you still get a 6inch move from the drop pod so with average dice rolls your guys can end up where you want them. Id probably take a Rune Priest with these guys too from now on for divination as you really want to overkill rather than just under kill for first blood.
