Ten Long Years... New Project: Ravenwing Jetbike Command

"Ten long years, its has been, since I trod the hallowed halls of the Rock, and breathed in its exquisite air of incense and pain."

- Asmodai

Greetings Brothers... it has been a long time. Some of you may remember me from a long time ago; The Shadow Guard, my old friend. Chaplain Lucifer, steadfast all these years. I have returned after long years of exile; but not empty handed: I bring gifts.

An age ago during our years in the wilderness, I suggested to the Inner Circle a unit of Ravenwing be created, trained to an impossible standard, and equipped for close combat; It is satisfying to see my plan brought to fruition, and I present the next iteration of Dragoon, or Black Knights, as they have become known.

thumbsup.gif Fantastic, I know what I'm doing next for my Crusade Era DAs.

Cheers,

Jono

The bikes work great for Crusade DAs, but all that MK IV armour from FW adds up!

My RW are based on a 33k-34k post Heresy RW force, when jetbike tech was still around. I'll be making a longer post with the rest of the army soon.

Awsome job. How did you make them? From what are they made from?

The Jetbikes are from Machinator's webstore. They're currently oop as he's working on a new version, but if you message him I'm sure he'll be able to

accommodate.

The rest are bits from the Ravenwing Command sprue, Dark Angel bitz sprue with the Knight head from the Veteran sprue.

those are spectacular, something to be very proud of.

Thanks, they're my pride and joy!

One word, wow.

One word for you, novitiate: REPENT!

I have always wanted to do a full jetbike RW squad but you have done it better then I have ever imagined! Very impressive squad, I am very jealous. Id like to echo the others and ask how you made those bikes.

Don't let me deter you. Get some jetbikes and do your own! I want to see other interpretations.

Awesome, a very nice squad, great stuff!

DR

Thanks! They're still unfinished, however: need to touch up some areas, get some weathering in, and do freehand names.

Are those bikes from Chapter House?

I remember someone making jet bikes out of Battle Field Gothic ships.

No, they're custom sculpts from Machinator, I provided the link below. BFG ships... just aren't economical to do, and that was before all these awesome third party sculpts came out.

A great way to have them standout on the board! Curious about your choice if nicknames though - all for the most part being feminine in nature.

When we originally had three man command squads I based all my command squads on mythological trios, the Furies (Female goddesses of revenge in Greek Mythology) and the Magi (Three kings of Orient) but since the FAQ I haven't updated my lore.

They're the five furies (or erinyes) from classical mythology, hence the squad name. I belive they were all female/feminine.

There are technically only three: Mother, Maiden, Crone. Widow and Stranger are my own additions :D

Now thats how GW should have done our knights - great thinking outside the 'box' ahem.

How much to make me a squad?

If only :D

I really like your RW!

Not going to be cheap if you want them painted and based, but if just built I can send you a quote :)

Nice re-entry Asmodai Asmodean... has it really been a decade since you walked these halls? Always good to see the old gnarled veterans return. And what a return indeed, an excellent set of RW models.... great work.

Much has happened in your absence, most notably of late, the Sons of the Lion have wrested the mantle of forum painting champions, been awarded a fantastic codex 9in my very humble opinion), had their 30K history enriched and a whole heap of great mdodels dumped in our laps!

Make yourself home... and brace yourself as that old puppy 'spacewolf' is still around with ideas of raiding our hallowed halls every now and then. :)

How much to make me a squad?

You could do something similar with jetbikes from various aftermarket people for roughly $20 a bike + whatever you're paying for the actual riders themselves. Steep price, but results are obviously very good.

It's what, 70 british pounds to get a 3-man Scimitar bike squad off Forgeworld? That's like $100 bucks US dollars. And that's just 3 guys without anything specifically Ravenwing about them.

Another cool jetbike model I've seen recently is the Kromlech "Iron Shark" Jetbike. Shipping is from Poland so shipping might get steep, I am not sure.

Scibor Miniatures also makes some pretty outstanding jetbike models. All of their stuff is phenominal, but pricey. Also their actual website is a mess so I'm going to simply link to after-market purchases off The War Store. "Roman legionary" and this one which would probably fit Dark Angels better.

If you couldn't tell, I'd looked into doing something similar, so I cannot express the mad props I am giving to Asmodai right now.
