Pyro X
so I'm going to be doing a tournement that lasts over 6 months and it start off with 500 points and ends with 2k toward the end. I'm looking to see what I want to run starting out and I only have models that can be kited like DC but I don't think for 500 points I want to run them but they said I can run them as anything from blood angels as long as I wysiwyg. my question is this. from my list. Lib lvl2 5x assualt marines in razorback 5x assualt marines in razorback for the last 100 points should I go with 5 scouts with sniper rifles, a rocket launcher, and camo cloaks or should I go with 2 sang priests for the 2 squads to have FNP. I'm new to this store and I'm dumping alot of points into the lib so I can get str 10 and take out any jerks that are running a wrathknight / riptide. any thoughts? the only other op is to play dark angels and I want to run full DC after I get into the 1k range. Quixus
Lib lvl2If you mean getting the Epistolary upgrade, do you really need to be able to use two powers on your turn and two powers on your opponent's turn? Every Librarian can use for example Sword of Sanguinius on both turns. 5x assualt marines in razorback 5x assualt marines in razorback Give them special weapons. What weapon do you use on the Razorbacks? for the last 100 points should I go with 5 scouts with sniper rifles, a rocket launcher, and camo cloaks or should I go with 2 sang priests for the 2 squads to have FNP. 2 Priests are most likely overkill. Every priest gives you a 6" bubble of FC and FNP. If the priest is in a vehicle, the bubble is around the vehicle, if he is attached to another unit, he is part of that unit and as such the special rules extend 6" around the unit, not around the priest model. So one priest should be enough, if you keep your two units together. If you don't use a priest, how about taking a couple of ML Devastators? That being said - for 2 5 mans squads I really think 2 priests is overkill. 1 and an attack bike with MM maybe...? Quixus
Nope - the 6" range for effects is always measured from the priest - not 6" from any model in his unit.It is not that clear. The rule for the Blood Chalice does not specify whether the 6" are to be measured from the model Sanguinary Priest or from the unit Sanguinary Priest. As long as the Sanguinary Priest is alone that does not make any difference, but once he joins another unit, there only is one unit comprising of the models of the sanguinary priest and those of the unit he joined. Then the IC rule comes into play:While an Independent Character is part of a unit, he counts as part of the unit for all rules purposes, though he still follows the rules for characters.Since the bubble is not a shooting attack we are not instructed to measure form model to model. So the interpretation that you measure from the unit (SP+RAS for example) to the other unit (RAS in the other razorback) is just as valid. Pyro X
The reason they I took a lv 2 was in case someone takes a riptide or wrathknight. Else I can't kill it. Or any other MC. The razorbavkswas going with HBs I should have said how I was killing them. say I'm getting charged by a wrathknight (becuase they would be broken in 500 points). the razorback would run up and then get shot / charged by the wrathknight. then I would use sword of Sanguinius. I'd hit on a 3 with 3 attacks and wounding on a 2. when I wound I turn on the force weapon and merk a big baddy. Or if somone uses a MC or LR I'd do the same thing to it. The only problem I think I'd have is dealing with a flyer. Quixus
Ah, you want to use the force weapon in the same turn as the Sword of Sanguinius. I have not read the new Eldar or Tau codex so it might not apply, but don't forget about this rule:Force weapons have no additional effect against vehicles or models that do not have a Wounds characteristic.Activating a force weapon on a Land Raider will definitely do nothing. Pyro X
no no I get that force weapons don't hurt land raiders and that stuff. But MCs, unless buffed with biomancy, they are not eternal warrior. I was checking and xenos can field a wrathknight for 240ish points, an HQ for 80ish, and 2x5 pathfinders for around 180. tau can do around the same thing with a riptide. Seems like alot of minmaxing to me and I know that its really lame but in tournment play, would you really think people wouldn't do whatever it takes to win? Quixus
Aren't wraithknights and riptides vehicles? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279270-progession-tournement/#findComment-3442888 Share on other sites
Pyro X
nope, wraithknights are T8 and riptides are T6. wraithknight has like 6 wounds and riptides are 4-5? I think Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279270-progession-tournement/#findComment-3442932 Share on other sites
Quixus
Interesting. I wonder if dreadnoughts will remain vehicles in the new codex. The concept is very similar to the wraithknight.
