Unbreakable
Iv just started a Blood Angel Horus heresy era army but I am struggling to find sold information on their colour scheme. The only details forge world have released is this poster here http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm106/Linnear1701/40K/IXLegion.jpg Trouble is I can find no reference anywhere else to them having black/grey back packs? Re read fear to tread and didn't see any mention of it in there. Does anyone have any more information that could help me out? AfroCampbell
hey mate, i think there is obviously some variance within a legion, afterall just look at Betrayal, I do death Guard, and there is an example of one in there with a black powerpack and black facial stripe, that was never mentioned, yet still is awesome, bit of inspiration to vary the paint scheme in an otherwise blocky army. For me, there is gonna be company by company differences in paint schemes, campaign differences, squad differences based on function etc, probably minor variants everywhere. Think of all the successor schemes, a lot of those schemes were already present during the heresy, for example Black Templars in the 1st company of IF, or Amit's Flesh Tearers 5th Company (?) Blood Angels etc. I think variety is VITAL to what a real legion was like. Unbreakable
Im actually doing the 5th company led by Nassir Amit to tie in with my 40k flesh tearer army. Was their colour scheme different from the other companies? Emperor's Furor
Could easily be the current colour of the Flesh Tearers, a very deep red. WarSpirit
Without any details up to now i would also go for the Flesh Tearers color scheme. If you don't want your two armies to be identical you can change the red, going more for a tradiotional blood red and add variation in squads. emptyglass
Well there Heresy was a busy time, The 5th, unlike most ba, wernt really fussed how it looked. So it could be the Vth company. Going by the V on the shoulder pad though, theyre probably the fourth Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279280-blood-angel-legion-colour-scheme/#findComment-3442852 Share on other sites
Entei
We don't know yet how exactly how the BA scheme will look like and if they will all have black backpacks. But if you are going for the fifth company, they all are carrying bolters and flaying knifes and the Wolves think they are ordinary Blood Angels until they recognise Amit(according to Fear to Thread). This suggests that they wore more or less the same scheme as their fellow Blood Angels. But I wouldn't take the description of appearances in either Black Library's or Forge World's books as canon. The canon is pretty loose on that stuff. The Alpha Legion for example had purple armour in Legion, Indigo in The Serpent Beneath, and a green-tinted blue according to Forge World. I bet that Amit will get a Forge World model sometime, but unless you want to wait until then, I'd say go for whatever you like the look of the most. Chickenleg
Such color variations are bound to happen from unit to unit. You cant go wrong if you paint the backpacks black,a legion consists of thousand marines, not all of them were the same. That poster is considered ''official'' fw paint sceme so its safe to go with it if you are so crazy about the ''fluffy'' correctness of things. Unbreakable
Iv equipped a few models in each tactical squad holding serrated knifes to represent the flaying knifes and all tactical squads have the extra weapons upgrade. Think im going to go for the standard colour scheme with black rimmed shoulder pads, just need to decide on the backpack colour now. Unfortunately our book will likely be a couple of years away yet and im not patient enough :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279280-blood-angel-legion-colour-scheme/#findComment-3442969 Share on other sites
Emperor's Furor
In the forgeworld books there's plenty of variations, such as a dark auburn/brown like Sons of Horus Scheme.
