alex567
I was wondering what colour the shoulder pads on librarians should be, I mean traditionally, as I mostly see them in gold, and as they appear not to be company specific I was curious, I am assuming they will be similar to honour guard with the gold trim but I just wanted to be sure. Similarly with the chaplain, but this time I was thinking they'd be company specific trim, as a few have alternate trim in the pictures, but I wanted to know if there was any fluff or info on what colour they should be. deathspectersgt7
I know in some of the older publications Chaplins had the company color on the power pack banners .but I don't think I ever seen a libbie with company colors. Brother Tyler
There is no prescription. Gold is often used because it is an accent color that is often used to denote rank/achievement, but plenty of 'Eavy Metal librarians don't use any such accent. Since the librarians aren't normally assigned to a company on a permanent basis, they usually don't sport the company colors (in Chapters that follow that practice). That doesn't mean that you can't decide to do that if you want to, whether for the sake of uniformity or because the aesthetics appeal to you (or you have some basis in your Chapter's/army's lore). Chaplains, meanwhile, are usually assigned to a company and will display the company color on the shoulder pad (again, in Chapters that follow that practice). Thanks for the info, I wanted to know mostly because I want my ultramarines to be as fluff adherent as possible. I think ill go for a mix of gold and bone like colours ( mostly cause I can't paint gold), but deffo gonna crank out the red trim on my next chaplain. Aspecti
I still paint my Ultramarines according to the 2nd edition Codex, so Librarians don't have company colors but Chaplains do, though not on their shoulder pads but on the banner.
