Dudley Nightshade
Maybe it's someone's passive-aggressive statement about the aesthetics of the Stormraven, but whoever assembled the one in the 360 view on the GW site put one of the landing "feet" on backwards :) Made me laugh a bit. Bung
What do you expect? They even photoshop the pictures in their painting articles. Artemid
They haven't been in years, at least in the quality of their painting. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279349-eavy-metal-team-is-not-infallible/#findComment-3444107 Share on other sites
Firepower
For ages the picture they had for a Space Marine bike had the bolter broken, so that one was slouched down, aiming at his own tires. Seems they finally replaced him. Pity. That always made me snigger. Although last I heard they were paid nearly minimum wage anyway, so who can blame them? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279349-eavy-metal-team-is-not-infallible/#findComment-3444124 Share on other sites
Billy Butcher
You get broken stuff in the hall of minis too. But generally it's beautiful to look at in person. But when you compare it to golden demon winning stuff ... stinkenheim
Yeah, but then golden daemon entrants don't often work to strict time constraints... Doesn't make them bad painters (just check out their own stuff to see) just means that they can't lavish every single model they paint for work with the same care and attention. As for the assembly issues, that again us likely because it was rushed. Funny what things slip through the cracks. I hope that's not true about nearly minimum wage, but sadly I suspect it is. SRSFACE
My favorite is how they blatantly photoshop different colors on the same models if it's posted in multiple sections of the site. Case in point: new plastic Eldar Farseer. Original Saim-Hann paintjob vs. Farseer Council Ulthwé paintjob It's the one on the bottom right. Notice how the left side (as in the models' left, not our left) of his robe collar is still that pinkish red hue the 'Eavy Metal team uses when they do Saim-Hann robes. I noticed this one because I bought that model when it came out, and decided I wanted to do my eventual Eldar army as Ulthwé. I didn't get around to painting him til after the Apoc book dropped so I used this image kind of as a reference (I'll post pictures tonight if anyone wants to see, it came out pretty good.) It took me a bit to figure out what the hell that pink thing next to his face was. Lucien Eilam
Most likely the legs (and weapons, etc.) were left unglued so they didn't have to paint multiple versions (gear up/gear down) to demonstrate the options, and the photographer botched the assembly rather than 'Eavy Metal. If you look closely at the stuff in the miniatures hall at GW HQ, it's clear they do that a lot, and you can occasionally spot a telltale blob of blu-tack in their photos too. My all time favourite example was a photo of Sicarius that briefly made it onto their web site, posed wearing his helmet and carrying a second, identical helmet in his hand.
