VVolf
Hi guys and gals, so I'm abit of a fluff bunny and fancied having a go at rules for my Grand Master but i'm aware that its easy to go over the top. I would appreciate comments either way. Grand Master Raziel - 6 6 4 5 4 5 4 10 2+ Normal Gm gear and rules with psyker lv 2 and powers plus a new one - Final Judgement. Warp charge 2, witchfire, 18" s3 ap- assault 1 fleshbane, haywire, large blast, pinning (basically a variation of eldritch storm). Not decided on a weapon yet but i'm thinking of ap2 when force is active. I want a badass whos caretaking for draigo and specialises in electrical warp attacks. All for about 200-220ish points. If this goes well i'm planning a paladin/gm dreadknight. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279362-homebrew-grand-master/ Share on other sites
Grand Master Caloth
So why is he T5? That alone would cause his points to be closer to Draigo's. I'm assuming he is in TDA? thade
You'll find that commander units are typically very good at melee and just pretty good at ranged. Giving this model godly melee powers and a (honestly ridiculously powerful) ranged attack is just too much.It doesn't need Fleshbane AND Haywire AND Pinning...it's good at *everything*. And it's *large blast*. It's too much. That model should cost something like 700 points. He's actually more powerful than Draigo. You have in fact gone over the top there. To be safe (and start your home-brew testing) you'll want to bias him either Ranged OR Melee. He's either a Melee Grand Master (a la Draigo) or a Ranged Grand Master (basically a Librarian). Pick one and go with that. If he's both, you fall into Too Good category.I definitely concur with dropping T5; stick to T4 so he has some kind of vulnerability. And scale waaaaaay back on that psychic power, if you stick with it. Pick a target it's good at hitting and give it ONE of those modifiers, maybe make it useless against something else. (I.E. make it good at killing infantry but useless against vehicles, for example.) I'd also reduce the range to 12" and make it Heavy. As that power is, it's better than any other power, anywhere ever, in the whole game, haha. Maybe just give him Warp Rift. Also, I'm going to kick this over to Homebrew so it gets proper exposure. ADDENDUM: I forgot to leave a breadcrumb; sorry about that. VVolf
Thanks for the advice. I think I thought it wouldn't be too powerful as I was comparing Draigo, Abbadon, a GM and Mordrak. The t5 was to have some immunity to instant death, but he doesn't have eternal warrior like the others. I will revisit the psychic power but I tried to turn it down from the Eldar one.
