FranklS04
What do you all think? History: During the last Great Hunt Svengar the Red led his company in search of their lost Primarch Russ. After 7 months of searching Svengar heard of a wise old crone living alone in the mountains of aferal world. This crone claimed knowledge of the missing Primarch and pointed Svengar and his company towards a wyrmhole just outside of the system. After hearing this Svengar ordered his company to make all haste towards this spacial anomaly, Despite warnings from the companys Rune Priests and Astropaths. Svengar only had eyes for being the Wolf to return its Alpha male to the pack. Without heeding the warnings of the companies Rune Priest Svengar order the Cruiser Grey Mane into the Wrymhole. Upon leaving the wyrmholes embrace Svengar ordered an immediate scan of the area. The readings were not good the wyrmhole had deposited the company beyond Imperial Space. Svengar ordered an immediate warp jump, realising that he had been sent on a wild goose chase he flew into a rage. It was at this point that the ships Astropath gave the grim news. They were beyond the reach of the Astronomican and as such unable to navigate a Warp jump home. After taking counsel with the companys Rune and Wolf Priests Svengar decided upon a course of action. Instead of trying to make the long journey home which would take thousands of years they would explore this new region of space and look for a suitable planet to set up a base of operations. After months of searching a planet was seen on the scans, a dark orb in the distance. Svengar made contact with what appeared to be a tall, fair humanoid race. Svengar and his men were instantly accepted by the Empress of the planet and gifted with an archipelago near the southern polar region of the planet. Pleased to have been accepted so readily Svengar ordered his men to begin the construction of a forward operating base. With the passage of time it was soon the 1st anniversary of the Wolves planetfall the Empress offered to throw a feast to memorialize the occasion. Svengar being the Wolf Lord he is could not resist the invite to a feast for what do he and his brethren enjoy more than anything, a chance to eat, drink and sing a saga. Svengar brought with him to the Imperial palace his Wolf Guard, Long Fangs and Grey hunters. Leaving 1 pack of Grey hunters led by Bors to look after the Blood Claws at the base. Deciding against appearing in wargear to a feast being put together in their honour, Svengar ordered all the men accompanying him to dress in Company fatigues and only bring their combat Knife (how else would the wolves cut their meat) The Wolves were met on the stairs of the palace by the Empress herself. Dressed in an almost transparent silk like material she brought a response of awe form the Wolves. Beauty would be an understatement, standing on the stairs with the setting sun behind her she appeared to glow, to radiate a bubble of calm and tranquility that not even the Emperors Wolves were immune to. Entering the great hall of the palace Svengar and his men were treated to the site of table after table loaded with food and in the corner dozens of casks of the local wine. After the mandatory greetings and thanks the Wolves hit the food and wine with only the gusto a genetically engineered human could. Towards the end of the feast Svengar from his place of honour seated to the Empress right stood and demanded silence. Raising his glass he toasted ‘Forthe Wolf Lord, For the Empress’ There was a stunned silence, never before had a Wolf Lord not made this toast to the Allfather. Suddenly from behind tapestries and from shadowed corridors came feminine figures. Lithe and beautiful they moved with the elegance of dancers memorising the wolves present. It wasnot until the first head was separated from the shoulders of a Grey Hunter that the wolves realised the danger they were in. Daemonettes, brides of the foul god Slaanesh. What happened next was an orgy of sensual vilance catering to the beast within all the wolves. When the doors to the Great Hall where reopened the only Wolf to leave was Svengar no longer the proud Wolf Lord he entered as. Svengar was now no more than a slavering combination of beast and man whose only interest was the fulfilment of his baser instincts. Something was wrong. Bors had been left in command of the F.O.B with his pack to in his eyes ‘Babysit the pups’ Before Svengar and the rest of the packs had left for the feast he had been ordered to continue the work on the base and to ensure the headstrong blood Claws and there arrogant pack leader Tyr were kept out of trouble and under control. That had been 5 days ago and as yet there had been no vox call from the Wolf Lord. Meeting with the rest of his pack Bors highlighted his concerns and ordered an immediate removal of the companies specialist wargear back to the Grey Mane. Hearing the roar of the gunships coming in Bors ordered the Blood Claws to parade in an effort to greet the Wolf Lord on his return. As the gunships landed there was an air of anticipation. What got off that gunship would forever be burned into the minds of the Wolves that survived. As the ramps descended there was a blood curdling howl. Charging through the gap was a creature easily the size of the dreadnoughts back on Fenris. It was a visage from every Wolves nightmare ahulking mix of fur and armour, blood and saliva dripping from its open maw. Behind it came the leaping daemonettes. Before Bors could issue an order the closest pack of Blood Claws answered the creatures howl with there own and charged into the beast and its brides. Using this distraction Bors ordered the withdrawal of the rest of his troops just as the remaining 25 gunships appeared on the horizon. Sealing the hanger doors Bors immediately recognised the predicament they were in. Svengarhad taken all the experienced battle brothers with him leaving Bors and his pack with a group of untrained ill tempered youths. They could not win. Ordering the Blood Claws to immediately evacuate to the Grey Mane in orbit Bors made thedecision to hold the hanger door until the last gunship was ready to depart. He and his pack of 9 Grey hunters prepared to face the wrath of the daemonettes and there creature. As the Hanger door was finally rent open Bors charged. The powerfield around his Wolf Claw sparking with the built up energy. His brothers firing there bolters as they steadily advanced behind him. Bors hit the rent in the door and immediately began dicing the Demons left and right his brothers ensuring that his back was covered. Eventually the Grey Hunters began to push though the Demon ranks, however this inadvertently allowed the Demons to flank the battling Wolves. Slowly from all sides the Wolves were pulled down one by one and torn apart in the graceful talons of the Daemonettes. Eventually only Bors remained, refusing to yield Bors charged the creature swinging his claw in a mighty arc. With a speed unnatural for a beast of its size the creature spun to its left. Instead of Bors Wolf claw removing its head he only managed to take the creatures ear. The creature then in a movement to fast for the mortal eye to follow closed on Bors and ripped out his throat. Schertenleib
Fluff says the Wolf Lord chooses his own colors and iconography. So bottom line...it's your army paint it anyway you want. GrandMagnus
Fluff says the Wolf Lord chooses his own colors and iconography. So bottom line...it's your army paint it anyway you want. Huh... I remember that the wolf lords chose their own iconography, but I did not know they chose their own colours. Whats the source for this info? Schertenleib
I recognize my failing, and will be sure to correct it. Looked back through my codexes. Yes the Wolf Lord chooses his iconography, but it doesn't say anything about colors. Reading the "History" that Frank has posted though... Seems to be a 13th Company. Lost to the Fang and on their own. The Wolf Lord may have felt the need to change their colors out of a sense of shame. Not being worthy now of the traditional Wolf Grey or the Allfather's Grace. Who's to say what one of the 13th might or might not do. Grey Mage
Also, again- camo. FW has shown us in many places that marines will choose a 'campaign color' to use in alien environs where their chapter colors would be a heinous drawback. FranklS04
Thank you all for replying.
