DEL 707
I normally paint very cleanly, because that's all I know how to do. For my next model I would like to experiment with something different. Make it a bit more lifelike, dirt on the boots, bit of chipped paint, maybe even some light battle damage. But I have no idea how to do that or even how to start. Can anyone recommend me a guide or give advice. Also what kind of paints/tools will I need. I have access to the basic citadel stuff, thanks to a computer shop in town, but that's about it. Could of eager to get started, hopefully if I need equipment I can get it ordered to arrive for the weekend. Firepower
Sponging on battle damage is a tried and true method. Weathering pigments are good, too, but I never use them personally. This one is the easier method that I more or less use. I kinda cheat and use dark sponge paint to resemble mud and grit, then scratch on metallic paint where I see fit. I only started doing it recently myself on my new Broken Arrows project. My sig holds a link if you wanna see my results. This one is more stylized. I don't care much for it myself, because the sponge is rarely so precise in my hands. If you cruise youtube for people like Les Bursley and BuyPainted you will find an abundance of tutorials, some of which include weathering with pigments, sponges and washes.
