Guest Musketeer12
Hi all, i think because of all the comments and discussions i have seen about the horus heresy expansion that i want to collect a small force (that's affordable) to use. I am, however, stuck on what legion to collect. A bit about me: I like the idea of noble warriors Quite like mass infantry advances, the power of the footslogger! I like the idea of massed dreads and landraiders Preferably not too dark colours? Thanks in advance, it would also be appreciated if you could direct me towards some of the better HH novels and retailers:) Musket Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279458-help-chosing-a-legion/ Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Death Guard seem to fit that description quite well, and have the added benefit of being one of the four Legions that FW currently has the most goodies for. Chickenleg
Footslogger plus light colors its safe to say the Death Guard? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279458-help-chosing-a-legion/#findComment-3446762 Share on other sites
GhostMalone
Betrayer is by far the best HH novel but I'd recommend for the legion choice as SoH Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279458-help-chosing-a-legion/#findComment-3446764 Share on other sites
Emperor's Furor
Depending on the size you are aiming for, If you set the army during the crusade or just before it you can have a mixture of legions, the allies chart is really easy to use and gives you some leeway in picking a second legion. Wade Garrett
What part of the "One of the first to jump aboard the Let's Kill Dad Express" Death Guard says noble warriors to you fellows? I'd say Iron Hands, but since he doesn't want dark colors I'd recommend the Imperial Fists. Conn Eremon
Eh, hits two of his interests pretty solidly, and Great Crusade era Death Guard could be seen as noble. But yeah, there's a reason Imperial Fists topped my list. Nakuth
You could always do something similar to what I intend for my force in Jaspcat's thread here. I intend to do a Loyalist Death Guard force (surely that's noble?), using the Death Guard Legion rules in Betrayal, but will mix a few Emperor's Children, Sons of Horus, and World Eaters into the mix, to add some additional colour. Of course, if you want bright colours, infantry, and nobility, then the Fists would be a good legion to go with. Guest Musketeer12
Hi guys, I think it would be between Imperial fists and Loyalist Death Guard, so which do you all think would work best? Could anyone also point me towards good Death Guard Novels? Emperor's Furor
Hmm Death Guard don't really have a book dedicated to them, the best you'll get is Flight of the Eisenstein which happens at the time of Istvaan III, it's kind of Death Guard, the primary character Garro is Death Guard, but imo it doesn't give a deeper understanding to the legion other than there are loyalists and they are trying to escape. Guest Musketeer12
Think i'm going to go with Death Guard, thanks for the help guys! Is there a PDF version of Betrayal available? Conn Eremon
Looks like a depiction of Mortarion based off of an off-brand model. I would give you massive points if you painted them up in Dusk Raider colors. I have already seen at least one Dusk Raider Mortarion here and it was absolutely beautiful. Guest Musketeer12
Do you think some of the Death Guard/ Dusk Raiders stranded on Istvaan III would repaint their Armour? Conn Eremon
Perhaps. The Loyalist Sons of Horus rechristened themselves the Luna Wolves. Why not the Death Guard? If you're looking for fluff validation, it'd be extremely unlikely occurrence. But they are your models to paint as you'd like. Hell, you could even just go with an alternate Heresy excuse. Guest Musketeer12
I think i have something along the lines of the bombardment of Istvaan turned the survivors armour, a reclusive group of the 2nd Grand Company made up of mainly terrans but also a considerable number of natives of i forgot the planet, grey from the smog. They then paint their shoulderpad red, signifying the return to the old ways and a new dawn for their group? Spinsanity
I once wanted to go with Loyalist DG, saying they'd have covered their right arm in blood (as a reminder of their previous identity as Dusk Raiders) and now using the moto "Night is now falling over the Imperium of man, and we shall therefore once again be the Dusk Raiders." However I was somewhat put off thinking the mix "White-Green-Red" might seem too Christmas-ish...
