Legion list as a Chapter?

Emperor's Furor

If you were that keen to have scythe totting terminators for the SotE, simply get the Deathshroud models and use them :) Can always have them counting as Power Fists (since I seem to recall Typhus' Manreaper has the same-ish sort of rules)

Part of the trouble with bringing a Legion-esque list into general 40k is the elite nature of it. Most of the units have additional rules/wargear options that just don't exist in mainstream 40k. Plus using the example of the Deathshroud again, these guys are the elite of an entire Legion, a smaller Legion than some granted but still they're the pinnacle and in general have few equals across the other seventeen Legions as well.

The man reapers have special rules though that allow them to do sweeping attacks to all around them. I like doing conversions and where I can use them, so the prospect of some scythe toting Scythes of the Emperor is quite appealing.

not all that great a plan, the legion list really isn't too well balanced vs regular 40k lists to be honest.

just use the scythe models as axes (which i believe is what the Deathguard characters man reaper counts as in the chaos codex)

I think it would work fine, there are a couple of ways you could go IMO

1) You simply add the death shroud unit entry from HH Book 1 to your C:SM list.

2) Use the entire org chart and lists form HH Book 1 if your opponent is good with it.

3) Use the HH Book 1 org chart but limit yourself to 10 man squads and add ATSNKF.

hope that helps

Ok been thinking it through and I think the Death Guard legion list would be ideal to represent an under powered Scythe list.

Every character who can take a power fist can have a power scythe instead

Breacher squads could represent boarding parties that descending into hive ships that the scythes now supposedly do with ease.

Support squads could be "Eradicator" Squads, specialising in using masses amount of flames to burn tyranids to death.

Seeker squads as veterans who use special ammo similar ultramarine tyrannic war veterans.

There's probably more room for fluff ideas but I think they are some pretty weighty ones already.

So looking at all the lore available on the Scythes of the Emperor, I came up with this list. It's mainly for theme and conversion options, so not very competitive.

HQ

Chapter Master Thracian (Praetor) - Emperor's Scythe (Master Crafted Paragon Blade), Combi Flamer, Iron Halo - Melta Bomb - Digital Laser = 195

Brother Hadrios ( Master of Signal) = 85

Elite

Veteran Squad Remas - Chapter Banner (Legion Vexilla), Power Scythe, Combi Flamer with Chem Munition, Artificer Armour,  x2 Heavy Flamers with Chem Munition, Outflank = 275
Rhino - Heavy Flamer with Chem Munition = 50

Brother Domitios (Apothecary)  - Artificer Armour, Augury Scanner = 60
Brother Karro (Apothecary) - Artificer Armour = 55

Brother Tiresias (Dreadnought) - Flamestorm Cannon with Chem Munition - x2 Hunter Killer Missiles - Graviton Gun, Frag Assault Launchers = 190

Troops

11th Salvation Team (Breacher Squad) - Artificer Armour, Power Scythe, Vox, Graviton gun, Flamer with Chem Munition, Breaching charge = 295

8th Salvation Team (Breacher Squad) - Artificer Armour, Power Scythe, Vox, Graviton Gun, Flamer with Chem Munition, Breaching charge = 295

Total -1500

Thinking of perhaps having the dreadnought clasping a Tyranid Warrior in his hand and using the Firestorm cannon to crisp him with some sort of modeled flames.

For the troops I'd try get some movement into them, so only go for running legs perhaps and mix match the mks of armour. The Sergeant of the Veteran Squad is based on this guy so I'd perhaps give him a proper standard maybe and see if I can find anyone who can free hand this banner -

Will also need to learn how to do proper battle damage, so it looks realistic.
