Grim Dog Studios
Just wondering if anybody was going to be picking up some of the new C:SM releases to add to their SW? I've ordered a squad of sternguard to convert into combi-plasma/melta wolfguard. Some SW heads, shoulderpads and bit of greenstuff fur over the tabards is my plan to wolfify them up. Replacing some the MK7 torsos with some spare MK4 ones though, trying to go for a late-heresy/after-heresy kind of feel to them! Also considering getting a tac squad for the extra leg poses and a lot of the pieces in it look quite nice. Grey Mage
I like having a bit of tactical pieces to mix in, but I dont want to pay the new box prices for it. Rift Blade
I'm with Gray Mage. After getting a sneak peek at all the new stuff last night(the dex is thicker then any of the 6 ed ones so far & the art is really good so well worth the extra $10) I'm just gonna hold off & save my Hobby money for the spring when hopefully we get our 6 Ed stuff-weather it's a new codex( 99% sure we will get one) or they just FAQ what our new toys are. Gotta say though, after a sneak peek at the dex itself, I don't think we as much to worry about as a new Giant Wolf or any such nonsense. Perhaps a new flyer with transport capability will most likely be the biggest toy we get but I digress. logun
i have been building a templars successor chapter,(a little chapped that they got rolled in) so i'll be picking up some of the new sterngaurd for them and they seem to have a lot of nice combi weapons that my wolves might make use of. but there is nothing else there that i could see as being useful. Sohail187
The new box prices are just out of this world, however the models are looking good, really good. But same plan as rift saving the pennies and pounds for a hopefuly codex sw release. Urauloth
I'll be picking up the new tac squad box for the legs, new-pose boltgun arms, special weapons and other useful stuff to bash into my grey hunter squads. Sternguard I'm undecided on - I want some of the heads, and I definitely want the special/combi weapons, but the rest of the kit's not likely to be very useful for wolfing up. By undecided I mean I can't decide if I should wait and get the bitz I want on ebay, or if I should just buy the box anyway and make the sternguard without the bits I want to loot for my wolves; a squad with fancy boltguns and a heavy flamer would still be really nice minis, and the chances are the ebay prices will be eye-watering, so I might just do that. Schertenleib
As of right now... The prices are too high, I'm not impressed by many of the new models, the new vehicles and Centurions are just ugly IMHO. That being said I'm just going to save my cash and wait for the new Wolf Dex. Hopefully we get some nice stuff. As a big fluff I think it would be cool for them to bring back some of the other old characters from past codecs. the jeske
Well there are still a lot of chaos players using SW codex for their lists and I see a lot of them adding centurions for counts as oblits. MalachiOfRuss
I'm going to seriously evaluate those anti-flyer tanks. Of all the new stuff I think they're the most likely thing to also be added to the SW codex. Mammon
Tactical Box or the Sternguard. Prices are horrendous for either but they would be pretty decent for kit-bashes. I am torn between the two, really can't afford/rationalize getting both! Not a huge fan of the Centurions or Tanks. Of anything, I would like to see a unique dreadnought for our Chapter or some new Special Characters. Access to the current SM flyers and Skyfire options for our Long Fangs would be divine. Grey Mage
Anti air tanks in my own eyes are a waste of points and money, I disagree, they could be a valuable asset. Of course, Im not a fan of allies, so getting them into the army is a whole nother problem. Rift Blade
I think we'll see GW give us both the new tanks, the Storm Talon & as I said earlier, maybe a new transport flyer. I am very interested to see what we'll end up with for Chapter Relics after seeing what's in the Space Marine one. WE'll probably see th eold Chapter Banner come back as well as some kinda of nasty Frost Blade relic blade combo thing plus 4 or 5 others. THe new dex's seem to limiting the relics to 6 or so. Sorry for getting off topic OP. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279537-new-marine-releases/#findComment-3449782 Share on other sites
mactire
What i need for my ongoing GC - droppod, razorback, 2 tacsquads/grey hunter sets, assault squad, ven dread and sniper scouts, throw in SM commander and command squad (bits will be useful), regular GW price E266 (E258 if your take GHs instead of new tacs). New release SM strike force & stern vets & van vets = E260. Great deal Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279537-new-marine-releases/#findComment-3450609 Share on other sites
Valerian
Don't need anything, so don't plan on getting any of the new SM stuff. Will just wait and see what comes out for us in a future 6e Space Wolves release, and determine whether any of that new stuff is worth getting. Otherwise, I'm more than satisfied with what I've already got. Deathscream
I got the new dex, the librarian, and the sternguard box. The sternguard box is :cussing amazing, soooo much good stuff in it.You can bet that our new kits will be just as spendy too. So don't go bitching to much about it. It's coming up our front drive and about to knock on the fangs front gate too!! The price of the Tac Marine here in the state went up just over 2 dollars. What are you all complaining about??!! Did it increase more in Europe?? Now $50 for the Strenguard is pricey, but the contents are great and worth it. To me at least...End of Line Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279537-new-marine-releases/#findComment-3450749 Share on other sites
Urauloth
For once I really don't understand the price complaints. I'm usually the first nose put out of joint by price hikes and the like, but +£2 for the sharp increase in quality and extra components of the new tac squad? That's nothing. If they bumped chaos or wolves squads up to match (which they might in a few months) I'd be filled with proverbial urea and vinegar because there'd be nothing new there and no quality increase, but the new tac squad is definitely worth an extra two quid in my book. In general, paying more for better minis doesn't bother me, it's being forced to pay more for the same product, which isn't happening here. Anyway I just got back from town and I picked up the aforementioned tac squad and I'm off to crack it open and kitbash it into my grey hunter pack. It's going to be fun as hell. Grim Dog Studios
I like a lot of the bits in the vanguard squad (the MKIV legs) but don't think I can justify buying it as well. Currently only bought the sternguard, debating whether or not to get the tac squad because I don't really need it! Deathscream
WHAT?? I live in Oregon as well and the tac squads I see for sale are $2.50 more than they used to be. Is that much of an increase that big of a deal (as mentioned by Kvilt Ghost) for better sculpts and more options??!! Not to mention more individual pieces so there is less repetition per kit?? You can bet the wolf kit that comes out will be the same thing, will you all complain about that too?? Yeah, we play an expensive game. Nobody forces us to do that... *rolls his eyes* If you have your packs already filled out, then you have no need to purchase new kits, but if you do suck it up and pay the increase for better product. Don't just anonymously bitch about it on the internet. /rant End of Line Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279537-new-marine-releases/#findComment-3451279 Share on other sites
Bloody Legionnaire
I can say one thing about the new Marine release. For all those that were worried about C: SW losing their codex and becoming an entry in the C: SM... that's a confirmed no =p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279537-new-marine-releases/#findComment-3451351 Share on other sites

Deathscream
We don't know yet. Once the new codex is out, that question will be answered RichVStone. Until then, we can ally with them and have access to the new units etc. End of Line Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279537-new-marine-releases/#findComment-3451378 Share on other sites
Urauloth
Do Space Wolves get to use all these new types of troops like the Centurions? Only by allying them in. I doubt centurions or grav guns will be added to the new wolf 'dex when it appears, there's an increasing focus on retaining unique stuff for codex marines. There's a long history of tanks migrating to other power armour factions though, so I wouldn't be too surprised if the new AA treads get imported.
