Hunter+spare rhino = stalker?

I can't quite tell from the pictures of the sprues, but do you think it will be possible to make both vehicles from a single kit if you happen to have a spare naked rhino lying around?

I know you wouldn't be able to use the leggy armour on both, but that doesn't matter does it? It's only the weapon that's important.

I believe you can since the weapon mounts are different between the two guns and the only item I see that are the same between the two are the sensor antenna which you can just leave out or use something from your kit-boxas a stand in.

In the newer kits from GW it's often that two entirely different tanks are using the same base and like this or the Mauler/ Forgegfiend you basically get two weapon systems for one so if you have a spare Rhino and can do without the added aromor or legs you can have both tanks for way less, seems like a decent idea since you can just buy this kit plus a Rhino and get two more expensive tanks thumbsup.gif

Like Brother Callius said, the only part of the weapons systems that is shared is the small antenna array. It can easily be magnetised, or replaced with something else (for example, with the IG tank antennas).

If you want the Rhino chassis to look up-armoured like the Hunter/Stalker, you could always use Forge World's Extra Armour, or buy the side and front plates from a bitz seller.

I'd wait and see before celebrating....I was gonna say "no they probably did sth. with the roof hatch" ,but just saw it looks doable and I'd like that -don't get me wrong.

It just doesn't sound like GW.

Please report any and all progress you make when you have the box.

Looking at the pictures of the completed model and the Stalkwer/Hunter sprue, I get the impression that you should be able to build both with very little, if any, scratchbuilding or substitution of other parts. It should also be possible to leave the parts loose so you can use at least the one without the stabilisers on the side as a Rhino.

I'm pretty sure this can be done. I've had a quick run through the instructions and cannot see any reused parts between the stalker and hunter from the turret mount and up.

I'll be putting the hunter turrets together later so should have a good idea once that's been done.

Already done chaps, I have an article scheduled on my blog for tomorrow - link below. You can definitely make both turrets seperately and either omit, magnetise or replace thé antennae.

Confirmed, there is just a single tiny little piece that is used on both kits. FWIW, it looks better on the autocannon version because you can hardly notice it on the missile version.

Are the side bits just something to shove on to the normal chassis? I'm not entirely sold on all those struts poking into the ground so I'm wondering how it looks without them?

Yeah, it's a huge side panel like the armour on the vindicator. For the anchoring struts, if you don't like them you could clip them off or cut them short and say they were retracted (it has to be able to retract them at least a certain degree them to move, after all)

Look forward to it!

HERE it is as promised, if a little late. Vindicator side panels and front armour as well as drop pod panels help to bulk up the second rhino hull.
