2nd Founding DIY guide?

I've been thinking if this aspect of DIY is worth it's own guide and if the DIY community wants to contribute towards an effective how to because it is (at least to me) quite different from doing a later founding.

Obviously back in the day the general consensus was 'no second founding' as they'd already been laid out by GW but Codex Grey Knights threw the door open.

Added to that the extended fluff from the Heresy series and you have chapters founded directly from the Legions which is something a DIY chapter could never realistically be before.

I just wonder if this is worth a bit more exploration into creating a 2nd founding DIY chapter and any relevant do's and don'ts that come with it - e.g why were they founded? where did they go? did they split willingly? is the relationship with the primarch/other legions important? what was their role before the split?

Any thoughts? Or is it still a subject probably best avoided?

Aside from the fact that the expanded 2nd Founding allows for DIYs that were actually part of the 1st Founding Legions, I don't see any additional factors. The general advice of not shoehorning any official stuff in still stands - whether that is a Chapter's participation in the 13th Black Crusade of Abaddon the Despoiler or the Scouring or the Dropsite Massacre. The standard DIY creation principles apply, simply with considerations for the 2nd Founding (rather than whatever other periods hobbyists might choose to use for their DIYs, most commonly the modern period).

I posted some comments on the issue of the 2nd Founding and DIYs last year, seen here. The 2nd Founding is most definitely not "off limits" to anyone.
