Pre Heresy Ultramarine colour Question

Hi guys,

I've had no problem tracking down guide images for my little project in the WIP forum, but, am having trouble establishing the best scheme for a pre heresy Ultramarine?

Basically, Gold trim, Yellow trim, or no trim?

Cheers!

I'm using mainly 2nd Ed stuff as a basic source (for my own nostalgia reasons) and am painting in that sort of style.

any ideas?

Check out mine, maybe it can help. I consider the entire legion to wear gold trim and paint the company colour on a knee cap (company colours are codex standard).

Ah i like it, good looking marine too. I wonder, does a GW publication have an 'official' pic? I'm tempted just to go with yellow, as I always loved that (and manage to work yellow into most models I paint ;p )....

Thanks again :)

Ultramarines on the covers of Horus Heresy novels have all been trimmed gold, I think. I'm sure yellow would look fine though, if you're going for a 2nd ed style.

I'm not sure company colours make any sense pre-Heresy – they had a lot more than ten companies.

It didn't really change, just the style of the armor updated.

And this is from Rogue Trader from way back in the day
