This morning I succumbed to the voice in the back of my mind urging me to fill in the gaps in my warrior nun collection. I dutifully wandered off to Gee-Dub dot com and made my selections based on my vague recollections of what I was missing.

One of the models, in this case the Seraphim Superior with Bolt Pistol and Helm was reported, in Canada, as insufficient stock. Normally, and historically this wouldn't be reportable news, however, it wasn't long ago people started noting this with alarming regularity with the mostly metal Specialist Games range. As we now know, when that went, it didn't come back.

There is no new manufacturing of metal figures once stock is depleted. While we have a promise of continued support, we've previously observed that selected Metal figures reappear in Fine Cast. I've no intention of buying Fine Cast Sisters.

Of course, a run on stock might serve to hasten extant plans to renew our line and leave us with A New Hope ;p for plastics. Maybe this is fear mongering, but your window to buy mint metal may be closing with deceptive rapidity. Now may be better than never.

Having added quite a few Sisters of Battle models over the last couple of years I can tell you there is always something out of stock. It is usually safe to order the bolter sister 3 packs since they are randomly chosen from several different models.  Anything else is a roll of the dice.  It is just one of the side effects of being a limited production / low-demand product line.

Maybe, but it may also have been that they were shuffling stock between the divisions. I think we can comment with reasonable confidence that they aren't making any more out of Metal and it was only very recently that the specialist line ran out.

Unless you're telling me that they still mint metal girls as a special exemption to their current operating policies?

Indeed, now may be the last opportunity but we've been here before. Or maybe we haven't. It's hard to tell with GW's web guys because anything can mean nothing on there... They're probably just as in the dark as we are with regards to orders from on high.

Whatever this may or may not mean metal models are definitely on the way out as Eddie says, so sooner or later there will be a cut off. The question is therefore do you want to stock up on metals or wait for the plastics? I think a lot of us have more than enough metals so are happy to wait for the plastics. I don't think I'm entirely alone when I say I'd pretty much buy them in bulk when they come - though I'd have to give thought to storage logistics first tongue.png

Kyrinov is no longer available as well as the Seraphim Superior, not sure about any others that have dropped off. Managed to bag a Kyrinov from Ebay but paid £12 for it, not much more expensive that getting it direct from GW. Did GW release anything saying they are running down the stocks of Sisters? A bit irresponsible if not.

Rubbish, but if I had to choose a model to be short on...

Part of me issecond guessing the company and wagering that in the next book they'll have some rule that makes them undercosted precisely because they're rubbish now.

Doubt it. C:SM still charges five points for a storm bolter, which is simply ludicrous!

Well, in fairness to the Marines, there might be a bit of a premium for transmuting from rapid fire to assault. The latter allows the user to assault after all, and with marines this is a meaningful option. Fifty points for a squad of ten is a bit steep, but a squad of sternguard disembarking from a Chibi-Hawk could dish-out some fiftyish strength four attacks in a turn between shooting and assaulting.

If the next list dares to give us some form of delivery mechanism, we could see similar behaviour from Dominion Squads, especially if they make it a cheaper option than flamers. Actually, if I were writing the list, I'd consider upping their cost by one per model and making the storm bolter the default weapon for all dominions with up to four being able to take meltas or flamers. And letting them have access to an act of faith that lets them assault after disembarkation, or split fire.

I think Celestians would be a better place for stormbolters.  And besides the fluff, they need a boost anyway.

Maybe, but I would have pulled a 'sternguard' on them and gave them some 'special issue ammo'. Mirco-melta rounds that are 12" ap2 rending and the cover ignoring rounds.

I scored 4 Seraphim for $24 on ebay the other day. The FLGS didn't want to take my bits order for a Seraphim Superior to lead them because of the "ships in 4 weeks" thing, but a mate of mine had an extra he just gave me, which was very cool of him. So I've got 10 total now, which is awesome.

But anyway, I checked a couple of times, and it always said "ships in 4 weeks", which leads me to believe nobody else is ordering them and they just don't want to do another run. I have no scientific basis for that, but there it is. Also I am drinking lots of red wine tonight and painting an Avenger Strike Fighter conversion. I hope I don't screw the Ecclesiarchy symbol up...

... I checked a couple of times, and it always said "ships in 4 weeks", which leads me to believe nobody else is ordering them and they just don't want to do another run. ...

See, I've been harbouring the opinion that they're really stealth oop right now and 'Ships in Four Weeks' is code for 'Takes us a Month to Get it Here From our Overstocks on the Far Side of the World'. You may be right though, or it could be that three weeks is the lead time on White Metal these days.

What do we reckon, for that?

first trait: Morale bubble.

second trait: FRFSRF for bolters, one use only.

third trait: VP for killing specific enemy types

fourth trait: acute senses for outflankers.

fifth trait: close-combat boost for the warlord

sixth trait: warlord gains miraculous intervention

maybe? No, all of those are too useful (except 5). Hmm...
