GrandMagnus
No and no. Both came out after Finecast. But to be fair to finecast only the first casts were bad. The last couple of times I have ordered finecast there were hardly any cast errors (compared to the first 2 minis I bought). A sword might have bended a bit and 2-3 bubbles that needed to be fixed. Mammon
That Fincaste Standard bearer would make for a kickin' Rune Priest since he has the runes engraved over his armor. He comes with a Power Axe to boot so it wouldn't be too hard to make him into a convincing Priest! Pity He costs better than half as much as a full Tactical Boxed set. Wulfebane
No and no. Both came out after Finecast. But to be fair to finecast only the first casts were bad. The last couple of times I have ordered finecast there were hardly any cast errors (compared to the first 2 minis I bought). A sword might have bended a bit and 2-3 bubbles that needed to be fixed. Still terrible casting. I've yet to see a single finecast model I haven't had to repair in some fashion. I went through 10 packs of the Lord Executioner model before finding one where the 2-part mold wasn't skewed by a full 1-2mm. Then after finding one with more manageable mold lines, I still had to fill a couple holes and bend back the axe head and jump pack wings. No more White Knighting finecast, kthx. To the OP, you're out of luck. When the Space Wolves got their batch of finecast, those two models were some of the first to come out (along with Arjac, cyberwolf, and Njal, etc). Furthermore, with the seeming occurrence of GW phasing out finecast in favor of plastic, they already took the initiative to phase out all metals from their line. Should these models ever be re-casted, it'll be in plastic if anything. GW is done with metal. Brother-Chaplain Kage
Finecast has its problems, true, but I also never had a metal figure that didn't require work. Sohail187
I really would love to get a few of these for each of my squads instead of using the banners on the back packs. However i just cannot bring myself to spend £75 quid for 5 models Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279852-space-wolf-banner-bearer-wolf-lord/#findComment-3455109 Share on other sites
ellis_esquire
Thanks guys - then those are sadly off my want list - PAY ATTENTION GW THE CUSTOMER HAS SPOKEN Im a DA obsessive and Ive had the same nightmare as you Wulfbane - 10 Asmodais before I got one thats perfect - painted up now (look for my diorama at GD ) but it was still a nightmare and im terrified of it dropping - his pointy finger snapped off on the bl***y table in preparation stages! Belial took 5 models - in the end customer service didnt even reply to my emails just sent me an OPENED and so clearly checked more or less decent Belial and I gave up. Just want to point out Wulfbane, Njal was in white metal - I have him new in box! phewww As for the banner and wolf lord - ill have to pass - Thanks again all my wolf brothers - see you in the Lion and Wolf Challenges! Wulfebane
I was referring to the TDA Njal, which yes started in metal, but GW promoted him nearly as much as Arjac in trying to claim their finecast details were improved from their metal predecessors. Wolf Lord Barak Ironwolf
Boy, do I feel lucky. So far I have bought and painted Kaldor Draigo and a Librarian for my GK army, and just this week I got Logan Grimnar, Terminator Njal and a Terminator Chaplain (Wolf Priest) and not ONE flaw. Draigo's sword and Njal's staff were a little crooked, but some hot water and TLC took care of that. Not ONE airbubble, or mis-aligned mold, or miscast/broken part. After 30+ yrs modeling BELIEVE me I looked and looked hard. Now I am almost afraid to purchase Arjac Rockfist. Of course if the SW characters are reborn in plastic next spring...........they will get reborn in my collection as well, NEVER have liked resin (of any type). Vash113
I've only purchased a couple of resin models, got Njal Stormcaller a while back and it had a few notable flaws. A big missing chunk on the right pauldron, very thin vents on the back of his terminator armor I had to rebuild with green stuff. All told could have been much worse. I got an Ork Wierdboy though that had not a single flaw. I think largely GW has corrected the issues with finecast and it's not as common to find notable problems in the casts and I do like the material. Light, durable, easy to cut and file, I like it a lot more than pewter that's for sure. Deathscream
I think in the beginning GW was ironing out all the processes in the casting process of Finecast, but now a days they seem to have it down pretty good. I got the TWL kit and a Canis when they first introduced FC, and both where TERRIBLY riddled with pock marks, broken detail, and this spots. Customer service replace my Lord three times, but for I too just said ":cuss it", and call it good... The last 4 kits of FC (all 4 of the Apoc captain models) are flawless. Not even a slightly bent axe handle, or bolter barrel. MaveriK
a simple solution is to make your own banner bearer Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279852-space-wolf-banner-bearer-wolf-lord/#findComment-3463438 Share on other sites
Squark
Combining the plastic Thunderwolves with bits from the SM commander box and leftover wolf bits should give you a decent looking Thunderwolf Lord, too.
