Grim Dog Studios Posted September 10, 2013 Share Posted September 10, 2013 Hi all, I've started a few WIP threads in the past but I've never really been successful with them, so I thought I'd take another crack at it! Recently sold the majority of my warhammer, including a Wolves force nearing 3k points, and then suddenly the new september issue of White Dwarf came through the post showing these fantastic new Space Marines, which instantly re-ignited my love for the wolves. So after ordering a box of sternguard and some bits from bitsandkits, and combing them with a whole box of spare bits from my previous wolves, and a bunch MK IV marines from FW that I couldn't bare to part with, my new army is starting to take shape! Not going for a big force, as I don't really have anywhere near me that I can play at, and being an unemployed student (shame on me ), I'm just going for a force that, whilst playable, is more going for a cool factor than anything else really. I hope to eventually give every marine his own name and possible mini saga, so it's a good thing I am going for a relatively small force! The army is going to be based on a small group of Wolves on some form of mission, I just need to think of what it will be! Just going for similar ideas to the reasoning of the Wolves in the HH books Fear to Tread and Battle for the Abyss. I'm not entirely sure on what the maximum size for images is, so if they are too large, I will be more than happy to crop them! Yeah, I thought about that, but it was such a nice looking chest! Contemplating having a go at possibly scraping the heads off and possibly greenstuffing one head in their place so it looks similar to a raven and painting it black, which I think would be more fitting for the wolves if you'd think that would be acceptable! :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As for the Aquilla, on the EC's were allowed to wear it wholesale as a Legion, it could be found within the other Legions as a reward. Spinsanity Posted September 11, 2013 Share Posted September 11, 2013 The matter of the Palatine Aquila and the EC is a tricky one, that FW's HH:Betrayal book has made all the more muddled... The twoEC marines on page 110 features the Palatine Aquila on its chestplate. Looking at it, it looks like the regular 2-headed Aquila, with a longer tail... However, on page 76 we can see a SoH dread which has an Aquila on its chest, called this time the Aquila Militaris. However, because of the honor scroll that flows in front of it, I can't say for sure if it has the elongated tail or not... The one thing that all ECs (except one on page 111 which has older pre-Fulgrim Heraldry) have in common that the SoH dread mentionned above does not is a small Ruby/red gem set in the middle. I therefore would hazard that as long as you don't put any such decoration on your marine's chesteagle, you'll be fine! :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Spinsanity Posted September 11, 2013 Share Posted September 11, 2013 Well, there's not a single EC in the whole book that shows the lightning bolts, so I'd hazard a guess and say they have nothing to do with the Palatine Aquila. They all have the elongated tails, however, along with the red gem/ruby... The ones that could possibly be Palatine Aquilas can be seen on pages : - 13 (elongated tail, lightning bolts, no ruby) - 22 (elongated tail, no bolts, no rugy) - 103 - page where the Palatine Aquila is described (elongated tail, no bolts, ruby) - 110, 112, 113, 115 - pictures of EC marines and dread (elongated tail, no bolts, ruby) - once again... The dread on page 115 has the exact same decoration as the SoH dread on page 76, except for the ruby on his eagle... Looking back at the two pictures, the tails are exactly the same ones (although there's no mention of it being the Palatine Aquila). Once again, the Aquila seen on ALL ECs in Betrayal has the ruby and no bolts... So once again wulox, just make sure you don't give yours a ruby and you'll be fine ;) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Also, just some updates! I moved the original WGPL from above to a plasma gun pack, so I swapped around his weapon.
