Death Guard Advice

So I plan on starting a Death Guard army at some point down the line. I'll be making heavy use of third-party bits to try and cut down costs (such as Kromlech's Legionnaire legs) since I'm naught but a poor student at the moment. I am, however, fairly awful with list building, so I thought I'd ask for the forum's help in designing a list that contains a few units that I know I want while still remaining playable and fluffy. Preferably with a focus on infantry as I'm not super-fond of vehicles but I can stretch to a few tanks here and there. The units I want to include are:

  • Destroyer Squad with jetpacks
  • Support Squad with plasma guns (possibly magnetised to switch with Volkites)
  • Contemptor with dual CCWs
  • Terminator Squad
  • Siege Breaker Squad

Other than that I can't really think of many units I'm chomping at the bit to model. They will be a traitor Death Guard force, so that I can model some Nurgle-afflicted Marines when the later books come out. As for the bases, I want the bases to tell a story, so I was thinking of having armour parts from a Loyalist legion littering them, and right now I'm thinking either Dark Angels or Raven Guard. I don't know if there were any battles (besides the Seige of Terra) where the Death Guard fought against the Dark ANgels though, so some guidance on that would be appreciated too.

Cheers in advance for any help you guys can offer, I share the sentiments of many 30K players who're sick of the way 40K is being treated so I thought this would be the best forum to seek advice in.

The Legions of the Marines on the bases were primarily narrowed down to those two because I want a chance to paint their colour schemes, and because the black armour would provide a nice contrast to the light armour of the Death Guard. Not really interested in painting Salamanders. My preference right now is with the Dark Angels because I love their pre-Heresy colour scheme and I'd like the chance to do some checkered patterns but if the fluff doesn't support it then I'll default to Raven Guard.
