Iron Hands Legion Rules (from the FW video)

Let's hope forgeworld will provide us with some awesome models and conversion bits. Iron Hands might be finally getting some love. It's been a while since we've received some new bionic bits, and this year's space marine release has been a bit dissapointing for IH players (not a single bionic arm/leg in any of the new boxes!)

although the iron hands have FINALLY gotten the awesome rules they damn well deserve, this makes me worried about my own fourth, since a bunch of the rules shown on that page could just as well work on my iron warriors.

i wonder if some rules will be shared between the legions, or if FW will go an entirely different route with my beloved Olympians.

wonder what Immortal Squads do, sure have a cool name though.

No wonder they need more infantry than bikes etc, t5 with -S to incoming shooting would be great if it was common across the army, even then I can imagine iron hands terminators being alot tougher now...especially the incoming Gorgon terminators, their bound to be tougher somehow, whether by feel no pain, extra toughness or and improved Inviolable armour.

I wonder if the Praetor will have access to a machinator array.

Well we have yet to see the RGs rules so I'm sure they'll be tasty and completely outflanking nastiness :D

Those Iron Hands got some awesome rules, and I'm liking the Night Lords ones too.

But hey, can't beat my emperor's Children and...oh. They get to roll an additional dice when running and pick the highest? And +d3" to Sweeping advance? Brilliant. Still, could be worse, they...oh. Have to issue challenges as well?

Yeah. My EC aren't too pleased haha

Um... -S to shooting?  Not to put too fine a point on it, but is there some huge Iron Hand fanboy over at Forgeworld?  Deathguard, the guys who were supposedly known for being able to take a licking and keep on ticking, only got being able to ignore dangerous terrain (or some such) and bonus destroyer squads.

I dont think the death guard individually were tougher then other marines. It was more the legion itself that was relentless as hell.

I mean the 40k RG rules ;)

I, personally, can't wait to field Iron Hands' Tactical Support squads with Graviton Guns instead of flamers... for 10 points of course! But still... all those Haywire shots!

+10 points per Graviton Gun. But still, I'm definitely up for fielding a couple of All-Graviton 10-Man Tactical Support Squads... I could even transport them in a Land Raider Proteus or Phobos due to the other part of the Head of the Gorgon Rite of War :D

I currently only have one Fast Attack choice planned (5 x Landspeeder Talon), and one Jump Pack unit which I may now abandon (Destroyer Squad), or just run without Jump Packs.

I'm also glad to see that the Iron Hands are able to field Jetbikes, albeit in reduced numbers. There were a load of rumours going around (largely based on the awful Feat of Iron in the Primarchs anthology) which indicated that the Iron Hands did not use Jetbikes at all...

I think the -1 Strength to Ranged Attacks is a bit OP... honestly, they probably should've given it a downside like 'Volkite weaponry gains the Concussive rule against Iron Hands to show the beam attack interfering with bionics' or some such rule.

I think that whilst a little OP for the moment, we don't know what additions will be made to the other Legions (especially traitors) in the coming months/years as the books progress, I'd say it's highly likely that there will be similar additions for the DG when they start going all nurgle and pustules...

There are downsides:

Stand and Fight: All models with the Legiones Astartes (Iron Hands) special rule must pass a Leadership test in order to make Sweeping Advances after winning an assault or to make a Run move in the Shooting Phase. In addition, models with this rule may not voluntarily Go to Ground.

Rigid Tactics: An Iron Hands detachment may not have more units with the Legiones Astartes (Iron Hands) special rule in total (including Independent Characters) with the Jump Infantry, Bike or Jetbike types than it does with the Infantry type. Note that because of this, certain Rites of War are unavailable to Iron Hands armies.
