Karack Blackstone
Hello all, I just thought about this, and have decided to make a thread for those like myself that like the cool new shinies. Grav weapons, introduced in the new Codex: Space Marines sound great. Problem is, don't try to one-off them and home brew some rules. The rules already exist in the Rites Of Battle supplemental book for Deathwatch. The issue I ran into when trying to brew up some rules was that with 1d10 per 2 AP on the target, average, and that they are then AP 10, Necrons just fall over way too quickly. 1 Overlord, 1 Lord, 1 Cryptek, 1 Lychguard, and 6 Warriors were dead within two salvos, on single fire. The average outside of the Warriors was 5d10 of damage with an AP 10 trait. With nothing else, even on single shot, it was a kill fest. There was a second high power weapon firing, but, it wasn't as consistently bad as the above. Stick to the books, or better yet, try to avoid certain things, like the above. Food for thought. Julgolax
I thought you meant for video games at first, by the title. :P Are you meaning for Epic games or something? Lucien Eilam
He's talking about the Fantasy Flight RPG. The message seems to be that you shouldn't make up your own overpowered grav-gun rules because Fantasy Flight have already published more balanced rules for it.
