Zynk Kaladin
Ahoy there! Recently I got an itch to remodel an old Night Angel 2nd Company captain model, Lucian. I just want to get my thoughts out on how I want to run him with A LOT of emphasis on "rule of cool", but semi-competitive. Bear in mind this is my standard BA core with an allied captain:+1 JP Divination Libby with Axe +1 JP Sang Priest with Axe +10 JP ASM x2 melta with Sword <--Sang P and Libby +10 JP ASM x2 melta with Axe <--Captain Now with that in mind, here's my captain load out: -Artificer Armor -Jump Pack -Burning Blade (GIANT FLAMING MACHETE!!!) Basically the captain can tank for the ASM with his 2+ 4++ and has a mean 4 str 7 ap 2 attacks on the charge. The Libby can provide divination for whichever squad needs more killiness. I'm thinking of running with Iron Hands powers just to increase his survivability (6+ FNP and IWND) and perhaps a back field 5 man sniper squad just to fill out the pesky troop requirement. What are your thoughts on Allied Captains? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280467-blood-angel-captain/ Share on other sites
Memento Of Prospero
If you are going to bring an ally, go for a Biker captain and with a unit of bikes. appiah4
Removed due to my lack of reading comprehension. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280467-blood-angel-captain/#findComment-3466459 Share on other sites
Zynk Kaladin
If you are going to bring an ally, go for a Biker captain and with a unit of bikes. True, a biker captain with either the relic armor or shield is just nasty and I've been reading how grav weapons are awesome on bike squads. For mine though I'm going the not-so-competitive route with the Jump Pack because it fits my army. Calnus
Then you can grab an allied 5 man tactical squad in drop pod, sternguard in a pod, and bikers (from fast attack) to go with the Fragioso in a pod that you will enjoy using with your BA contingent :) Your core BA force that you listed is basically 700pts, the allied portion should run about another 700, and if you juggle points, you should be able to fit the Frag pod in at around 1500. 1750 for sure. In fact, at 2k, I really want to try this list now. It would look about like this: [bA] JP Lib, axe [bA] Furioso, Frag Cannon, Pod [bA] Sanguinary Priest, JP, Axe [bA] ASM x10 [bA] ASM x10 [bA] Stormraven [bA] Stormraven [sM] Captain, JP, Relic [sM] Tacticals, Pod [sM] Sternguard, Pod [sM] Bike squad, grav guns I added double stormravens because I think you can fit them in at 2k. Would give you two pseudo-hammer assault squads, bikes, multi-purpose drop pod death, a backfield sitter, and two gunships. Calnus
I thought the Sternguard were like 3pts cheaper in the new SM dex? I haven't picked up one for myself yet, saving up. What does the Cerberus launcher do? I have the old codex, and I don't even remember a Cerberus anything in there... ChapelXIII
The Sternguard are cheaper, but their combi-weapons are more expensive. This makes a combi sternguard squad more expensive, I believe. Calnus
Why would you want to burn all combis anyway? If they're the same price as meltas, I'd just grab a couple of those and use the special issue ammo. After all, you're buying sternguard to use the special stuff, so why add bling for a few suicide shots?
