moric
Fellow Blood Angels. Recently i came by 3 bikers and i am now gluing them together. The thing is I have never used bikers before and I am not quite sure on how i should kit them out. So has anyone tried them? Does power fist on sergeant and 2 plasma guns sound good for a 3 bikes squad? Xenith
Generally good, although each models lost will hurt. Depends whether youre lacking anti tank or not. 2 meltas and a combi melta may also work/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280495-bikers-and-their-kit/#findComment-3466989 Share on other sites
Calnus
Don't bother giving the sergeant a power fist. You'll get more mileage out of a 4th biker (which a fist costs nearly the same as), or probably a power sword/lance and melta bombs. If you're playing BA, you probably have meltas on a lot of other platforms, so plasma bikers sound good. If you don't have the melta elsewhere, melta bikes are rock solid too. Fulgens
I prefer Attack Bikes with multi-meltas. I tried to play with bikes with two meltaguns and a combi-melta, but I found myself repeatedly just barely outside of the 6" range for 2D6 armor penetration. 12" is much more forgiving, and the 24" total range means they have an effective range of 36"--half of the board! Although bikes are a Fast Attack choice, they're really not a great assault unit. They work best as a mobile shooty unit, and Attack Bikes do that best. They're also just as survivable as regular bikes since they have 2 wounds and can only be instantly killed by S10 weapons. You can find the spare bits to convert a bike to an Attack Bike on Ebay. The Milkman Of Baal
I ran a full squad of 8 with mm attack bike, gave my sgt a PF, he had absolutly no impact on the game, if i had given hime a combi weapon or a storm shield to tank then he might of been worth it. instead he just turned into a meat sheild for my melta bikers. Like was said in a previous post you've better cc units in our list. moric
Well i do have meltas in my assault squads (3 squads 2 meltas each) and also have multi meltas on my stormravens thats why i thought of going plasma on the bikers but now that you mention I have to agree that the power fist is not the best of options so maybe a combi plasma on the sergeant, I guess I'll magnetize the weapons and see what works best for them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280495-bikers-and-their-kit/#findComment-3467713 Share on other sites
Calnus
If allies are an option, Ravenwing command squads and Black Knight do plasma better than our standard bikers, for a bit of an upcharge. But having a unit of fast plasmaguns is a nice option in many lists, I've found it helps against the hard targets to weaken them before melee. Though I was using a quad plasma honor guard instead of bikes. Unfortunately, they died very easily once the opponent figured out what they could do, bikers may be a bit more survivable. Paternus
You could always convert to attack bikes. I find the front wheels especially useful for this ( back ones possible but lots of filing, plating & filling needed) as side car wheels and plastic card for the base/seat. Depending upon the seat design you may need to bend knees on the sidecar passenger and weapons can be added from elsewhere. I use forgeworld meltas ( pack of 5) and drill to fit onto flying base uprights so I can swap weapons.
