Tired of Forcing Myself to Choose

Emperor's Furor

Then I read Vulkan Lives and I really disliked Curze by the end of the book. He came across as a petulant goth child.

That's not Konrad's fault, it's Nick Kyme's inability to write stories about Vulkan where he isn't a black hole sucking all the good qualities out of every other Primarch in the narrative and leaving them to muddle on as best they can.

This same event can be observed in "Feat of Iron" aka "Ferrous Manus almost dies repeatedly while daydreaming about what a Bro Vulkan is."

Tbf, chap, every Legion has access to all sorts. Even the Death Guard have bikes so you can justify any Legion having them, there being about 100k or so in each Legion.

If you want something like that, White Scars are your guys, though you could justify Emperor's Children, Raven Guard or Night Lords having such numbers

I see White Scars in your future, but like it has been said, any Legion can obey to those preferences.

Imagine a Sons of Horus Jetbike force, force, for example, it'd be scarier than Khorne's malformed twin and just as violent. Don't strictly choose a Legion, choose colours, choose a way of warfare, choose a vibe and then develop the fluff to turn that into a force. Like said sons of Horus being a lightning flanking force designed precisely to deny any flanking manoeuvers by enemy armies. They're used to delivering a decapitating strike to keep the opposite army from manoeuvering and because that's the way of the Legion. This lead to them becoming humourless monsters who never get into a fight because they always go for the throat.

It's an example, hope you see where I'm going with it. Creating your tailor-made force is supposed to be fun.

I know how you feel mate, I feel like I have been around every Legion. I have enjoyed putting together the SoH command but I cant see myself collecting a whole army.

The one side I keep going back to is the Alpha Legion and I have decided to work on them and Night Lords at the same time. Its going to be my zen project, I will take my time, and model as I see fit.

Maybe take some time to read books, make some models and paint with out worrying about putting together an army and see what happens. I find it has helped me.

Brother just pick a legion out of a hat msn-wink.gif it worked for me

Does that mean you're not a son of Angron at heart? Brother I am disappoint cry.gif

Well now we know who to drop pod down to Isstvaan 3 whistlingW.gif

I'm a convert ;)

Once the nails were installed there was no stopping me though.

Consider me a cousin who made the right choice to be chained to you in the puts of the Conqueror

I will probably go with the Night Lords because of their background and because of Sevatar. I already have a bunch of FW stuff. I have 25 cataphractii terminators, 20 Mk 2 assault marines, 20 Mk 2 marines, and a contemptor. I got this from a guy off of craigs list for $200. And it is all FW, not copies. At least half of the army is still unassembled and in the bags they came in. I guess with that many terminators I could do the Atramentar with Sevatar leading them.

Do you think that the NIght Lords would use mechanicum allies? I have a full Thallax cohort that I did get from FW.

You know you want to play evil. Do it. DO IT!!!

"Evil will always win, because Good is dumb."

In all honesty I thought all the coolest legions turned traitor (except for the dark angels, or are they??? dry.png )

Dont think of them as weird spiky guys with weird stuff growing out of them or being one dimensional. Forgeworlds best work was the heresy and Badab. The whole shades of grey dealio.

They would. They do, in fact, per ADB's novels.

As I said early on to WoT when I mentioned them, the Mechanicum were everywhere - loyal and traitor! They're the best of both worlds in 30K and even adaptable in 40K with the new SM codex.

I think......I'm going to go with the White Scars. I think they represent two of my characteristics, one that they also find it hard to communicate, socialize and organise the more boring aspect of life. Two, the Khan seems to be a very solitary figure who keeps being under estimated, I know I'm a solitary figure, but I'd also like to think I'm under estimated to. Also I've always wanted a biker army, and I've found a pretty decent tutorial which I can follow to paint white to I believe.

There's also a lesser aspect of the turmoil the legion goes through during the heresy which I think quite aptly sums up my indecision on who to choose :P

Your description doesn't say you're not a dick.

Just Kidding

But, eh.  I don't really see Perturabo as a dick really much.  I actually see him kind of like a corrupted Dorn.  Dorn's all about loyalty and duty, which, Perturabo is sort of about as well (maybe not the loyalty, but definitely the duty).  He does his backbreaking siegework without question because that's what's expected of him.  The difference then is that whereas Dorn finds pleasure and honor in his duty, Perturabo finds weariness and anguish at always being subservient without the level of recognition that Dorn gets.  In a way, Perturabo is a Dorn who's been way past burned out and just mentally snaps.

Some people say that Perturabo is inconsistent with himself because one hand, he hates being kept as the resident siegemaster and shipped out to every front for that task, but at other times, he fights with Dorn at being the better siege fighter / combat engineer.  I actually don't really see this as inconsistent. Some people, when they snap, hold onto and obsess over the the role that they feel unhonored in purely because it is that last thing that identifies them as something special or valued in an worthless life, so even though it causes them pain, taking it away would cause even more pain.  Perturabo seems to be the latter kind of person.  When Dorn says his fortifications can withstand an assault from the IW, it's not hard to imagine that in Perturabo's strained mind, it's as if Dorn was saying that there was nothing special about him because Perturabo's forte was something that Dorn could do even better in.  Thus this translates to as a confirmation that the IW are nothing special and just cogs in the machine rather than distinct components of it and that their only purpose is to suffer the wears and tears of constant use without special distinction so that the rest of the machine could work flawlessly

I'm pretty much in the same boat.

My friends are shifting from 40K to HH and i'm the last man clining to 40K since I don't know what legion to choose.

In 40K I play Alpha Legion. I have done so ever since I picked up 40K a few years ago after being long gone from the hobby. I have read some of the HH novels including the first three novels, Legion, Deliverance Lost, Flight of the Eisenstein and I'm about to finish Primarchs today.

I have re-read Legion and First Heretic once or twice and have a crush on Cyrene, would bromance the hell out of Argel tal and hate both Erebus and Kor Pharon with all of my heart, and Lorgar is just a weakling. I like how the Alpha Legion seems to be heading into a civil war, with Omegon apparently plotting against Alpharius.

After reading the short story about the Emperors Children I figured I could do a small EC force, but again... I'm just indecisive.

Picking a legion out of a hat seems Ok. If I leave some of them out. Such as White Scars and Iron Hands.

Does anyone else have this problem, I keep going around and around on what legion I should go with, nothing is screaming at me, I have a lot of ideas, some good some bad, but they never stick. So I'm pretty much giving up, I've resigned myself to the fact that my choice will eventually be made clear and until then I'm not going to dwell on it.

I struggled between Word Bearers, Black Legion, Alpha Legion, and Death Guard for ages when I first got into the hobby. I ended up doing each LoL. Just now started Word Bearers after 10 years of being in the hobby, and I still haven't done Death Guard. teehee.gif So my advice to you is just do them ALL!!! eek.gif Over time of course. Death Guard will be my 2014-2015 project more than likely.

Well until now I was going to go for white scars, but all the white got to me just, I'd already green stuffed the legs on the bikers to make them resemble mk II armour but I'm now considering pulling it off and using them for my 40k marines.
