DuskRaider
Nah man, do Scars. I don't understand why white is so intimidating to a lot of folks, I find it easy to work with. Russ Brother 92
I think the intimidation is due to it being (imo) a pain to get a nice solid colour (even with 2-3 thin layers), and then too much shadowing can darken it too much - I admit I'm a relative novice where that's concerned - but if done right it's stunning :) especially when weathered and battle damage added. The Highlander
Try doing two legions at once. With the allied detachment rule, you could have Blood Angels and Night Lords in one army. Helps cut choice making in half, and you get the excuse to buy two primarchs for a good reason. Entei
My tip if you are having trouble deciding is instead of trying to choose one, begin to remove the ones you don't want to paint/play. I've narrowed it down to Night Lords, Blood Angels, Wolves of Fenris and Alpha Legion this way. But I'm waiting for Fw to release some more models before I start building one of them. I have my Tearers until then :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280526-tired-of-forcing-myself-to-choose/page/3/#findComment-3477885 Share on other sites
Xwingt65
 I'm in the same boat. I just can't choose. I was leaning towards the Night Lords because of Sevatar. I really like all the background on him as well as the way that A-D-B writes him. Then I read Vulkan Lives and I really disliked Curze by the end of the book. He came across as a petulant goth child. No other legion is callimg my name.Disregard that awful freaking novel, Kyme beat the wonderful history and personality of the VIII Legion and turned them into cartoon bad guys and ne'er do wells. Freaking abomination that novel was. Read Prince of Crows and be reminded of why the VIII, and Sev in particluar, is glorious. Vulkan Lives is a horrible book. Burn it. Brother Captain Kezef
I have the same issues.  I adore the Death Guard, their stubborness, the fact they originated from British recruits and their style of battle.  But I also love the special ops focus of the Raven Guard, they way they operate like power armoured SAS.  Saying that I really love the religous elements of the Word Bearers, their devotion and the tragedy of Lorgar's story.  ARGHHHHHHH! Brother Captain Lucian
I just plonked down the legions I like on some pieces of paper.. and randomly picked 3. FunkyMonkey
I thought Death Guard recruited from somewhere around Yugoslavia, Albania, and Kroatia since Garro was from Albia in Southeastern Europe. Kol Saresk
Most of the Dusk Raider's stock came from "Old Albia". The VIII and X also recruited from Old Albia as well, but not to the extent of the XIV. Â Of course, Old Albia wasn't the only place on Terra either of those three Legions recruited from and it is entirely possible that Terra wasn't even the only planet before they each found their respective Primarchs and Homeworlds. Conn Eremon
It made it sound like they all recruited from multiple areas, but each Legion had one area that they got their biggest concentrations of recruits and initial identities. Dusk Raiders had Old Albia, Emperor's Children had noble-born kids, so forth. Kol Saresk
Yep. Also, I feel the need to point out that "Albia" is probably a derivative of "Albion", which was an old name for Great Britain. Optimum word: "Probably". DuskRaider
I thought Alba was the old Celt name for Scotland, actually. I know that at the very least, I live in Albany and it basically means "New Scotland". Conn Eremon
Albion, if I recall correctly, was Rome's word for the island's colony. Kol Saresk
Scotland was Caledonia IIRC. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280526-tired-of-forcing-myself-to-choose/page/3/#findComment-3478974 Share on other sites
FunkyMonkey
I thought Albia was a corruption of Albania. Â But Albion also sounds plausible. Â I didn't know Scotland was called Albion, I've only ever heard of Caledonia as an alternate name. Conn Eremon
Wikipedia seems to think we are all correct. Latinized Albion, Albania, was an alternative name for Scotland. Marshal Rohr
Now we know what happened to Legio II Imperial Bald Eagles who only recruited from the south eastern portion of the Merican plateau. FunkyMonkey
Wikipedia seems to think we are all correct. Latinized Albion, Albania, was an alternative name for Scotland. Â Â That depends if you're taking it as Albion or Albania. Â Albion is Great Britain. Conn Eremon
Like I said, Wikipedia says we are all correct.  "Albion (Ancient Greek: Ἀλβίων) is the oldest known name of the island of Great Britain. Today, it is still sometimes used poetically to refer to the island. The name for Scotland in the Celtic languages is related to Albion: Alba in Scottish Gaelic, Albain in Irish, Nalbin in Manx and Alban in Welsh, Cornish and Breton. These names were later Latinised as Albania and Anglicised as Albany, which were once alternative names for Scotland."  Edit: @M2 C: that must have been before they found their Primarch, I just don't see Dean having time to watch football. MordentHex
I paint my models what ever legion i wish to have and just use a normal codex for them. No one can then complain then about the rules being legal or fair and i can paint my little dudes any color i wish. thank you codex space marines. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280526-tired-of-forcing-myself-to-choose/page/3/#findComment-3479062 Share on other sites
Brother Captain Kezef
When you combine the various references, Old Albia, Warrior's parliment and the reference to the north Atlantic, it generaly points to Britain. Â Â One of the single biggest problems in picking a heresy legion is that blood A-D-B! Every legion he touches becomes sheer awesome, for years I disregarded the World Eaters as boring, one dimensional nutjobs. A-D-B turns them into something unqiue, fun and givest hem real life. Visitor13
Stop wasting time on trying to decide which legion to choose. Use that time to learn about some good stock you could invest in instead. Use the dividend to buy every freaking FW Heresy item.
