Novamarine colour scheme

Recommended Posts

It's bone and blue, in a quartered scheme.

Since the bone is close to white, I'd start with that overall, and then paint the blue in carefully on top.

Perhaps, start with a light white spray primer (the cheaper automotive ones are generally excellent BTW), and then base coat with a suitable ivory-coloured spray (Army Painter do one, but again, a good matte automotive spray will do well).

After that, paint in the blue quarters with a mid blue with a brush.

Next, give the whole thing a few thin brown washes to shade all the colours and bring out the details.

Finally, you can highlight the blue and bone as required (but highlight neatly, not with the drybrush method - drybrushing is way too coarse for these high-contrast quartered schemes).

That will leave you with the other details. trims, markings and such to paint as normal.

I love Novamarines, here is a great tutorial for painting http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/how-to-paint-novamarines-quartered.html

Personally I switched from bone to white with a darker recesses, the black under the blue is pretty neat trick.

Highlighting the bone/white parts is easier to just shade the recesses to achieve the "highlight".

Quick, easy and very very effective - good luck :)
